Heaven wasn't quite what Earth beings thought it was.
The Pearly Gates had long ago been demolished and the place more resembled a community from different eras.
Hence whilst the Righteous lived in a Adult Lifestyle Golfing
Community
elsewhere semi damned human souls worked off their prison
sentences whilst overhead orbited giant TransDimensional Ships
that would have been at home in a science fiction movie.
And there were the Angel Officer Training Academies,plenty of
those where young angels learned to fight a holographic
demon army with iPads rather then sword and shield.
There were plenty of the old timer angel soldiers still around
however so when the Legions of Hell burst forth and defeated
the angel troops already on Earth
it didn't take long for the Officers and their Troops to
connect in Heaven and mobilize.
Lieutenant Jimmy however wasn't one of them because he'd been sidelined by the Common Cold (just as pesky in Heaven as
it is on Earth and Hell and Purgatory and Limbo and Paradise.
So Officer Jimmy when he recovered found to his dismay
everyone who wasn't golfing seemed to have already Heaven for the Second Coming on Earth.
So there was Jimmy calling out and wandering up and down the
lanes between the empty shuttered troop barracks vainly
hoping he hadn't been forgotten in the troop pullout.
He hadn't been,but just barely.His father the General of the
Northern Command had managed to persuade three veterans to
stay behind and help his son and so finally Officer Jimmy found
the Seargent,the Cook and the Latrine Duty Specialist playing
cards in the next to last barracks.
Three Angel Troopers under his command,and probably
only one who knew how to fight a demon.
Things were not looking so good for Jimmy's military
career in the Army of Light.
Sarg just kept playing the card game with the other angels,,,,
then in a offhand remark he was sure the Lieutenant could hear
he called to the Latrine Duty Specialist
"Say Jeb,doesn't your brother work at that ancient
Serpent Correctional Facility ?"
