The loud noises of amazed spectators soon filled the arena as guests flooded in. Hundreds of phones and cameras flashed as they took the first ever pictures of a real dragon.
The commotion startled Jen. She wasn’t just some stupid attraction; she had been like them not so long ago!
Her predatory instincts told her to kill each and every one of them. The thought did sound tempting, but Jen remembered what Mrs Patterson had said. The sadistic woman wanted to make her angry, just to please the audience.
And so, resolving not to give the evil woman the satisfaction, the dragoness sulkily withdrew to the back of the cave. However, this did little to curb the crowd’s enthusiasm; after all, just seeing a dragon was more than any of them could ever have dreamt off.
This only served to annoy Jen further. What’s more, that sickening feeling inside her was getting stronger. Her cloaca now tingled strangely, making the dragoness uneasy as she didn’t quite know what was happening.
These feelings continued to nag Jen until she was snapped back to reality by a painfully familiar voice.
“Greetings ladies and gentlemen” Mrs Patterson announced to the hoard of onlookers. “Welcome to the Mythical Menagerie, the world’s first display of fantastical creatures!” Patterson paused as a huge round of applause rang out around the arena.
“This fine specimen is Jen, the world’s first, and only, living dragoness. Jen arrived just yesterday, but I can happily report that she is already settling in well.” Patterson paused again as she studied Jen closely, looking for a reaction. “She and her partner Max, who you will meet in a minute, have already... ‘gotten to know each other’ if you know what I mean!”
Jen bristled in anger as the crowd laughed at her tormentor’s cruel joke. She hated having all of those eyes staring straight at her. She just wished she could hide and block out the woman’s cruel taunts, but sadly the open-space of the arena prevented her from doing this.
Mrs Patterson smiled as she sensed that Jen was getting increasingly irritated. “Now,” she continued, “Jen is still a little bit shy so if you could all offer her your encouragement then I’m sure she’ll be more than happy to perform for us today.”
Again this added to Jen’s anger. She wasn’t some pet monkey who would just perform for others’ amusement. She snorted and drooled slightly as she imagined killing each and every one of those annoying little people. She especially savoured getting her revenge on the bitch that did this to her. The thought of burning her smug face to a crisp made the dragoness snort menacingly.
Again, Patterson picked up on these subtle signals. Her plan to piss Jen off seemed to be working like a charm.
“Right, now we have a busy schedule to get through today so let’s get cracking. You can look forward to seeing Jen up close as she shows off her wonderful body. Following that, feeding time ought to be quite a spectacle, as will watching a dragon breathing fire for the first time.” Patterson paused as she waited for the latest round of cheering and applause to die down.
“And,” Patterson resumed, “you will then get to watch Jen and Max performing together. Hopefully this will include some courting behaviour and, if we’re really lucky, the world’s first dragon egg laying!”
Jen was horrified as the crowd roared again. That feeling inside her must be her eggs! Being an animal was already unbearable; she couldn’t be a mother as well! The shame and the humiliation left Jen practically bursting with anger. She didn’t want to give Patterson the satisfaction of seeing her will crack, but in the end her body made the decision for her.
The crowd cheered as Jen let out an earth-shattering roar, along with a large spout of flame. With her mind now clouded with hatred and anger, Jen’s predatory instincts started to take over, just as Mrs Patterson had planned…
