Growing up in his foster home, Ty had experienced great malevolence from his foster family. He did not want to be like them; he wanted to do things that would help others, not hurt them.
It came to Ty that the best way to be benevolent was to seek out people who are disadvantaged, and then help them with his power.
Ty made a wish that people would only see him if he wanted them to. Glancing in the mirror, Ty saw an image of the room, but he could not see himself. Ty allowed Fred to see him again, and then made his wish. He wished that Fred would slowly gain intelligence and knowledge until he was smart enough to get straight A's at school.
The wish took effect, and Fred's eyes seemed to light up as his mind became sharper. They still seemed dull, but not nearly as much as they had been.
Ty suggested that Fred return to his studies, and Fred agreed. Ty then headed out, sneaking past Fred's mother again, and moved off towards his next target. He knew another person who needed help, and he knew just where to find that person. He headed down the road towards...
