"An anole?" Linda Asks, tilting her head to the side a bit.
"Yeah. They're these little lizards that can change their colors..." Taylor responds.
"Oh! Chameleons!"
"No, not chameleons. Chameleons have these buggy eyes and horns on their noses."
"Ew."
"Exactly. Kinda ugly little buggers, not like you."
"Aww, a flatterer. That'll get you pretty far, big boy."
"I'm sure it will." He winks and scampers up the tree a bit higher, beckoning her to follow. She does after a bit.
He has led her to one of the shacks - it's sparsely furnished, with a simple cushioned mattress on the floor and a thatched roof over their heads for shade.
"This is where we're gonna live from here on out. What do ya think?"
"It's very... bare." She answers, standing up. The shack's barely taller than she is.
"Well, yeah, it's only here for sleeping. The rest of the day, the island's ours when we're not working."
"Oh. Oh, that's pretty cool!"
"Yeah, it is. There's alot of stuff here to do, and there are a few other animal folk I can introduce you to, we can have alot of fun." He smiles a bit and a thin pink pouch puffs up under his neck.
"What the heck was that?" Linda asks, looking curiously at Taylor's neck.
"Uh... heh... I didn't exactly mean to do that, I've never done that before..."
"That didn't answer my question, dummy. What was it?"
"Uh... a... uh... it's... a..." his voice slips down to a murmur. "It's a mating display."
"Aha... well, does that mean you wanna go?" She winks, and moves her hands to the collar of her uniform.
"Uh... you mean...? I mean, I just met you..."
"S'gonna happen sooner or later, right? And I'm sure you and D-what'sisname were watching as me and Marsha were... being naughty..."
"Yeah..." He scratches the back of his head, a bit embarrassed.
"So come on, let's get started early on laying some eggs."
