...that he was wearing a tie-died tank top and a pair of enormous red boxer shorts covered with yellow polka dots. On top of that, his skin seemed to be milky white and his feet were three times as long, and he seemed to have put on forty pounds with an ample beer-belly.
Jake felt he should have been shocked but he somehow wasn't. Looking at his room, he could see his wallpaper was multicolored like his undershirt and the posters of supermodels right over his bed had changed-they were dressed and made up as clowns.
The haze still in his mind, Jake got up from his bed and waddled on his outsized feet to his dresser. Standing in front of the mirror, his reflection showed how much he had changed.
Like the rest of his body, his face was now milky white with colorful markings. His eye were now arched black lines high on his forehead, giving his face a surprised expression. His lips were full and red and stretched from cheek to cheek and down to his chin in an almost permanent smile. On each of Jake's plump cheeks were four red dots, done in the style of freckles. Underneath his eyes were two tiny orange triangles, and at the very center of Jake's face, his nose was as big, round, and red as a Christmas tree ornament.
And that wasn't the biggest change.
Jake's hair was now a thick curly yellow mass stretching from around his ears to the back of his head. At the very top-Jake ran a hand over his scalp and felt bare, smooth skin. 'I'm bald?'
Jake took a deep breath and felt his new nose. It was a perfect sphere, round and smooth with a leathery rubber feel. He gave it a squeeze.
HONK!
At the sound from his nose, Jake blink and the haze suddenly lifted from his mind. Why should he have been shocked by all this? It was perfectly normal, this was how he always looked.
Well, not quite.
He looked down at the small picture on his dresser. That was him as a little boy, when he had a full yellow afro, his feet were proportionately smaller and he was only a little chubby. When he turned twelve, then he started to put on weight, his nose began to plump up, and his feet enlarged. That was all a normal part of puberty for male clowns like him. His hair had began falling out too, but that was normal in his family; his father and both his grandfathers gone bald as teenagers. In the entire Smith family Jake could count only a couple of uncles and second cousins who had full heads of hair by the time they reached adulthood.
Giggling at the strange thoughts he'd been having, Jake reached into his closet and got dressed for school. He quickly put on a pair of blue jeans that hung loosely evan around his wide waistline, a pair of red and white striped socks and size seventeen canoe paddle-toed yellow shoes with red toes and saddles. Over his tank top Jake put on his football jersey, an orange shirt with red borders and with the words 'Clownton High' emblazoned in red on the front and 'Joeys' on the back along with his number 12.
Nodding in approval at his appearance, Jake rubbed his bald clown head with a moist towelette that he knew was made for that purpose then as an afterthought, rubbed his nose with it was well. After placing a small yellow derby at a jaunty angle over his smooth pate Jake gave his nose another honk, then picked up his book bag and waddled out the door to the breakfast table.
