Ava’s morning was rather uneventful. She got up that morning, got ready for the day, ate breakfast, and went to school like she would any weekday. When she got to her first period class, she wasn’t surprised to see that Ashley was already in the classroom, sitting at her desk and reading a book. Ava walked in and placed her things on the desk next to Ashley’s. Ashely looked up from her book and smiled.
“Morning Ava,” she said, putting her bookmark into her book before closing it and putting it to the side. “How are you doing this morning?”
“I’m doing pretty good,” Ava said, taking her seat. “Last night was...eventful…”
“Really?” Ashely asked. “What happened?”
“After dinner, my brother pulled me aside and talked to me,” she said. “He said that he had told our parents about his struggles with determining his sexuality. He wanted to thank me for being so supportive of him and helping to give him the courage to tell his friends, who convinced him to tell our parents.”
“That’s great news!” Ashley exclaimed happily.
“It is!” Ava responded. “He seemed so much more confident and vocal at dinner, and I was a little curious as to why...before he told me, that is.”
“So does he know what kind of Were he wants to become now?” Ashley asked.
Ava shook her head. “He’s still not 100% sure as to what kind of Were he wants to become,” she said. “He’s mentioned the Werewildcat species quite a few times though. I think it’s because his new friend Ryan is one.”
Ashley was quiet for a second as she thought to herself.
“Maybe he’s got a thing for Ryan?” she suggested.
“You know, that’s what I’ve been thinking,” Ava said. “He always seems so happy around him, and I’ve seen him blush when Ryan compliments him.”
“It’s no solid proof, but it’s still some solid evidence,” Ashley said.
“Part of me hopes they end up together,” Ava said. “I mean, they seem so happy together. It’s like something out of a fairytale. It’s like true love, you know?”
Ashley giggled. “I know what you mean,” she said. Just then, the five minute warning bell rang, and more students started to come into the classroom.
“We’ll resume this talk at lunch,” Ava said.
“Agreed,” Ashley responded.
