The skin looked kind of...greenish? Was that just because of the cell phone light? But those clothes, and that horrid face...pointed ears? If this was a video game, Toni would swear it was a...
The breathing of the creature became shallower and more uneven. She had obviously injured it fairly badly; blood seemed to be seeping out of the stab wounds from her keys. But the blood was...black? Maybe this really was...a goblin? But that couldn't be, could it? Then again, considering her current circumstances, this didn't seem like Earth anymore, either.
Most people would probably fall apart at this point. Toni was a bit of an odd duck that way; when things went awry, she would freeze at first, but then would proceed logically with an odd detachment. After all, if she wanted to survive, she had to do what she could in the moment. Only if she was alive would she stand a chance of getting back home. Steeling herself, Toni pulled the crude leather belt off the goblin and hogtied him (her? She wasn't sure yet based on the body type.) While he seemed in pretty bad shape, she didn't want to kill him yet, that would be an irreversible step, and he could come in useful. However, that didn't mean she was just going to leave him around for anyone else to find. And she needed whatever she could find to help her at the moment.
Therefore, Toni quickly found a hollow at the base of one of the larger trees. Emptying out the textbooks from her backpack, she shoved them inside. They would only weigh her down at the moment. Then she turned to her captive. Waste not, want not. After a moment of hesitation, she quickly stripped the goblin, working as rapidly as possible since it was highly unlikely she would find a plug to charge her cell phone anytime soon. Incidentally, the goblin actually was a he. He also smelled a bit funny, including his rough clothes, but she didn't let that put her off. Shoving everything inside her backpack to sort later, Toni placed the still-tied goblin inside the hollow, then covered the opening with stones. After covering her tracks, she was about to head back to the clearing she had found earlier when she heard a noise. Switching off her cell phone, she scurried up the nearest tree.
"Furken! Damn you, you runt, if we miss quota because of you, I swear I'll feed your ears to a desert centipede!" an incensed voice roared, followed by the sound of numerous large creatures approaching Toni's location. She held her breath, remaining motionless in the tree branches as the creatures converged below.
"Where is that goblin trash?!" the irate voice continued ranting. "The portal exit should be around here, see if you can find him!" As Toni stealthily peeked down, one of the creatures lit a torch. Catching sight of the creatures at last, it was all Toni could do to keep from gasping. The creatures were...
