Mike pauses for a second, looking at the tiny girls he held in each hand. They're trying to scream, but he covers their mouths with his thumb, and try as they might they're just too small to fight him off. So it's still quiet, important at the library. Still, Mike wasn’t comfortable with the thought of leaving those two other girls running around somewhere. He was smart enough to go to a relatively isolated section of the library, but it's not like no one ever comes down here. Eventually those girls will find help or someone will notice them.
Nonetheless, there's not much he can really do, either. Another look down the stacks shows that they're not scampering around anywhere nearby, and if they're hiding behind some of the books on one of the low-level shelves, they've done a good job of it. Mike knows he’s never going to be able to scour the library enough to have any reasonable chance of finding them. Plus, they're about as likely to get squashed as they are of getting anyone's attention. He wondered whether it wasn’t just best to leave them be; after all, he does have two lovely ladies in his hand right at that moment.
He puts the two girls he’d successfully captured into his backpack and puts it on. Two out of four ain't bad.
