Jeff studied the men before him. He knew nothing of their personal lives, only that he needed a place to hide from Madame. His instincts drew him to Carlos.
Carlos was the leader of the mechanics and oldest of the group at 39 years old. He had a large beer belly, chubby cheeks, a hairy chest and a deep voice. His black hair was short and the only other defining feature he had was the goatee on his chin.
Jeff wanted to experience what is was like being older and a bear so he had decided on Carlos. Jeff then walked up to Carlos and activated the powers that he had obtained from Madame Illusia. Jeff stared hard into Carlos's eyes and Carlos's began to mutter in Spanish as his mouth and eyes drooped. In a flash, Jeff had swapped bodies with Carlos and now Jeff was the owner of a large beer belly, hairy chest and a big butt. Carlos on the other hand would have to be stuck in Jeff's old body.
Jeff was admiring his new body and voice when he realized that he would have to transform Carlos again. Madame Illusia and her son Stephen were still looking for him and now that Carlos had Jeff's body, he was basically a walking, talking target. This wouldn't do, so Jeff readied his powers once more. Jeff gathered the five other men and decided to swap their body parts with Carlos to make him, and by extension Jeff, untraceable. Jeff swapped:
- Paco's chin strap with Carlos
- Carlos's race with Paco
- Buddy's age with Carlos, which now made Carlos 30 years old
- J.P's ear piercings with Carlos
- Francis's short black hair with Carlos
- The amount body hair between Jack and Carlos
When he was satisfied, Jeff ordered the men to dress themselves and get back to work but not before pulling Carlos aside. To fit in, Jeff needed to know what it was like being a mechanic and copied Carlos's memories and work experience. Jeff also wanted an ally before rescuing his friends and needed someone that would be of use so he altered the relationship between him and Carlos to make them closer. Carlos would likewise take orders from Jeff and carry out his will.
After Jeff was done talking to Carlos, he sent him back to work and pondered about what he would do next. Jeff knew the address of the farm where his friends and Seth had been taken. He also knew that because the Madame could no longer trace him, she and her son would deliver his friends and hopefully stop searching for him. Last but not least, the farmer who bought John, Walker, and Seth still needed more employees and would not expect it if he were to show up to help as a farmhand in Carlos's body.
Jeff finally put together his plan. He would stay with the mechanics and live in one of the trailers for a bit to put some distance between Madame and Stephan. When the time was right, Jeff would have Carlos drive him to the farm where his friends were at and Jeff would would ask for employment. He would get close to the family and gain their trust. Once it was night time, Jeff would transform his friends John, Walker, and Seth back into humans and they would have Carlos to help them make their escape.
For now though, it was starting to get late so Jeff headed to Carlos's room, which was now his and went to sleep.
