It was the first day of class of the New Year, and Kent was already awake by 5:30AM. He was looking forward to the new semester of new classes, new teachers, new books, new material, and new tests. Kent was the brightest kid in school, a real geek!
Unfortunately, Kent’s geeky attitude didn’t make him the most popular kid in class. The jocks, the normal guys, and even some of the girls tried to avoid the strange altogether. He was always studying, calculating things, or reading his books. He wandered around with a palmtop in his pockets and a calculator in his other shirt pocket. He carried a set of pens, pencils and erasers with him, along with a plastic rules in his backpack. Again, Kent was the ultimate geek. Still, Ty cared very much about his geeky “adopted brother”.
Ty realized what Kent’s next change would be, when he noticed Kent’s interaction with a group of girls during lunch.
“Hey there Kent” Julie asked him, while she was eating her sandwich. Julie was tall, skinny, and had long, black hair. Kent was sitting opposite her, at the long table in the middle of the cafeteria. Kent always tried to sit by himself, but this time there was no room for him to go all alone. “We’re organizing a party at the auditorium this Friday. We’re selling tickets. Would you like to come?” the girl asked him, as she was holding up a red piece of paper, which was printed in a piece of card stock paper.
“Naw… I gotta study for next week’s tests!” Kent replied.
“But… This is only the first week of class! We don’t have any tests yet!” Julie replied shockingly.
“I know, but I like to study for them anyway. I’m always studying for tests, even if it’s two weeks early.”
“Well, Kent.” Julie chuckled, as she shoved the ticket towards Kent. “Think it over. It will be cool for you to show up anyway. Now and then you need to take a break from studying, you know?”
“I guess…” Kent said, as he grabbed the ticket. “I won’t promise you I’ll be there, but I’ll see what I can do…”
As soon as the bell rang, Kent grabbed his backpack and stood up, leaving the ticket on the table. He turned around and was about to walk out the door, when he heard Ty’s voice ringing in his ears.
“Ah-ah-ah-ah… You forgot something…” Ty said to him.
Suddenly, Kent felt Ty taking over his body, as his legs turned around and made him walk back to the table where he was sitting at. Kent saw the ticket lying on the table, picked it up, and placed it in his wallet.
“You should go to that party, Kent. It will be awesome!”
“But, Ty… I hate going to parties! I’d rather be in the library studying. Besides, I feel uncomfortable at parties. Nobody talks to me. I’m always bored. I can’t help it that I’m not popular!” Kent protested.
“Not popular, huh?” Ty chuckled.
“Uh oh….” Kent mumbled to himself. “What’s that mean? What are you going to do to me?”
“Get ready to become extremely popular, Kent!” Ty’s voice rang. “Just wait till Friday night! You’re going to be a hit at the party!”
Finally, Kent was able to move again, for Ty had released his control over his body. He walked towards his next class, wondering what Ty had in store for him.
When Friday afternoon finally arrived, Kent was sitting n the library, studying for his test, when Ty’s voice returned to him.
“Kent, you’ve been studying all week long. Now, it’s time to have some fun!” Ty ordered. “I want you to go home right now!”
Kent picked up his books and got up, leaving the library. He rode his bike back home, where he ran up to his room as soon as he walked in the door. He felt Ty making him remove all his clothes, as he stood before his mirror wearing just his briefs.
“Get ready to become the World’s most popular kid!” Ty chuckled.
Kent gasped as he felt his body change…
