Jason had decided to call out of work that day. He could have gone but in truth he just needed a mental health day. Plus his yard was an overgrown mess, which he was trying to fix right now as best he could. Jason's house was fairly isolated, at the end of a long road with no other houses, just open fields. He lived there all alone, no family or pets.
'It's better this way,' Jason had thought to himself many times before. 'People and animals just get in the way.'
Today Jason wasn't thinking about that. In truth he wasn't thinking about much beyond how much mowing this big empty yard sucked under the sun. He wiped his brow, trying to keep sweat out of his eyes, right as the changes began to wash over the world.
Jason blinked. The lawn mower he had been pushing was gone. And he was barefoot. He wiggled his toes against the grass, 'Yep, I am bear foot.' He thought. 'Was I...huh...' The thought came and went so fast Jason barely had time to worry. Instead another thought crossed his mind. 'I wonder how the ground smells.'
Jason got down on all fours and sniffed at the ground. He briefly thought this was weird, but the thought vanished like a puff of smoke. No, this was normal. In fact, this is what he should be doing. The sun felt so good on his bare skin, he could run here under it all day long.
Jason sniffed all over the yard, wagging his butt and occasionally stopping for other smells. He moved over to the only tree in the over sized yard that used to be his, lifted his leg and peed to mark it. As he was doing this, the front door of the house opened. Jason looked up, butt wagging as a dog approached him.
