"Will you marry me, Mary?"
Mary considers her options. Joseph, her old love, had scorned her for piggish reasons. Peter, the man who showed her affection today, likely only gave her that attention because of her beauty and the spell. If she would have met him yesterday, he would have walked right by. The wizard, on the other hand, helped her out of the kindness of his heart and gave her an incredible gift. She couldn't possibly do any better than that.
"I accept wizard."
She senses the wizard smiling behind his cloak and holds out his.hand to the side. His walking stick grows into his long wizard's staff and he stamps it into the ground. With a flash of light, he and Mary are instantly transported away from the village center, to the shock and disappointment of the crowd. And just a little too late, Joseph comes walking through on his break to see what the crowd's commotion was about. But he only hears of how a beautiful maiden was swept away by the town wizard.
Mary reappears next to the Wizard on a mountain peak on a perfect patch of the greenest grass and wildflowers. Stone pillars surround them but Mary can see out for hundreds of miles from this very spot high above the clouds. The air feels cool and crisp, with a slight tingle of energy. There is magic here.
"Wizard, where are we?"
He takes of her hands in his, letting the staff float off and plant itself in the center of the stone circle they are standing in. "We are at a nexus, a point where great magic flows in and out around the world. Wizards gather here for training, communes, and for important ceremonies." He closes his eyes, holds his hands aloft facing what looks to be the head pillar, and calls out in a powerful voice. "Hear me, great gods of the earth and sky. I am a sorcerer of your might and I have brought forth a mate." He takes one of Mary's hands and holds it up with his. "This woman is to be my wife and she is prepared to bear you more magic weavers to spread your power. I believe she is to be a perfect selection of what the mortals have to offer." He bows his head and Mary does the same.
The magic in the air crackles and thunder sounds off in the distance. It doesn't come from any direction in particular, but the sound of the drumming clouds moves in closer. Suddenly, a burst of lightning comes in from the north, south, east, and west pillars in the clearing and strikes his wizard's staff. The wooden staff glows with power as it slowly turns into pure gold. At the top, a glowing ruby materializes and floats & spins in mid air. The thunder fades away and the wizard bows to it. "Thank you for your approval." He turns to Mary. "Mary, my love, place your hand upon my staff along with mine. Then we will be wed."
"So soon? Are you sure?"
"The gods have blessed our union and have even granted me a powerful new staff. This was meant to be." He places his hand on the shaft of the staff. Mary nods and places hers just below his. The golden staff lights again with divine power and lightning energy sparks out and shocks both of them, the wizard in his chest and Mary right in her amulet. The wizard's cloak turns a silky white with purple trim and in the darkness of his hood, two purple eyes glow with power. He can feel the magic blast coursing through his entire body, feeding him massive amounts of magic and supercharging his own mana. He has never felt so powerful.
As for Mary, her amulet shatters as soon as the lightning strikes it. The chain gets blasted away but the ruby shards painlessly melt into her skin. But she does not lose her beauty, no. She instead grows somehow more radiant. Her chest and rear plump even more than before, spreading her hips and torso so wide that they nearly split open the dress the wizard made her. And beyond that, she can feel even more of a magic presence within her core. The power sinks into them both, and once they are able, they let go of the staff. Wizard immediately goes to kiss his wife and she happily accepts. After few exchanges, Mary stops to breathe and puts a hand to her stomach. "Wizard? Was that normal for a wizard wedding?"
"Not at all. It's not often Zeus himself blesses a wedding. We must be destined for great things, you and I." He looks down at her bulging body. "My love, you have grown even sweeter since this morning."
But Mary feels off. Her stomach seems to be doing backflips and she needs to lay down. "I feel strange. Can we go home?"
The wizard nods and takes his powerful new staff and his wife's hand and transports the group back to Buttundoa.
