John winked, then opened the can of paint. As he expected, the paint was pitch black. He dipped the brush into the can, and proceeded to paint onto the wall of the shop. The paint dried instantly, and he continued to paint until he made a perfect circle.
"Shall we, my lady?" John asked in a posh voice as he gestured to the circle.
Carrie looked at him, confusion clear on her face. John knew he had to demonstrate once again.
"Just step through, like this." John walked up to the circle and lifted his left leg. It looked as if his leg was passing through the wall. John removed his leg again, and then grabbed the circle from the wall. It came off as a thin black disk. He put his hand through one side, and it did not come out through the other.
Carrie finally understood, and John hung the black disk in the air, unsupported. Carrie took John's hand, and the stepped through together. At the last moment, John grabbed the edge of the disk and pulled. The disk collapsed behind them.
John looked around at the place that the hole had transported them to. It was a lush green meadow, very peaceful, with birds, butterflies and other creatures playing in the warm air. The sun stood directly overhead.
"Oh, this place is beautiful." Carrie remarked. She started to run out into the field, and John tried to stop her. When she kept running, he just shrugged and followed her.
