At first, Jenny just stood there and admired the genie’s big fat feet. At five inches tall, she was roughly as tall as the giant’s cankles, but it was still an odd sight. Fortunately, the genie didn’t seem to be saying anything or doing anything to rush Jenny as she took in the experience.
“Sweetie, are you home?”
Shit! Jenny completely forgot that her mom would be back soon. She had no interest in her mother seeing her like this, or worse, taking away the genie. She made a break for it and slid under her bed right as her mom knocked on her bedroom door.
She was safe, except that she forgot one thing: the genie! “HIDE!!” Jenny shouted, hoping it would do something. And it did: the genie was able to hear her, and as quickly as it came out, the smoke vanished back inside the lamp, with the genie going inside too. In just a couple of seconds, the genie’s lamp looked just like a normal beat-up piece of old glassware.
The door opened, and Jenny couldn’t resist but poke her head out and watch. She had been staring at the genie’s feet and hadn’t had much time to look around her now titanic-sized room. It was so weird to be under the bed and almost have room to stand up, and it was a lot weirder to look out and see a bedroom door that looked like a mountain.
All that was nothing compared to seeing what a giant person looked like. Her mom was just wearing a normal top, skirt, and women’s boots, but she, from Jenny’s perspective, towered over everything. She couldn’t believe that something that tall could be a living person.
“Huh, that’s odd,” her mom said, her voice booming. “I thought I heard you—what’s that?”
With horror, Jenny saw her mom bend over and pick up the lamp. “What on earth is this?” Jenny needed that lamp—and she needed her mom not to wake the genie!
