Laura is waken up by Mark's mom the next morning. As the woman gives her a slight nudge, Laura groggily opens her eyes.
"What time is it?"
"Time for you to get ready."
"Ready for what?"
"For school honey."
Laura's exhaustion suddenly vanishes. Playing little kid was fun for a night but she definitely didn't want to spend a full day in kindergarten.
"Shouldn't I go home first? I don't have any clothes."
"Don't be silly you've borrowed Mark's clothes before. Now come on Mark's already taken his bath now it's your turn."
Laura tries to find a reason to object, but she comes up empty. After being bathed by her new friend's mom, Laura is sent back to Mark's room to get dressed and then is supposed to come down for breakfast. She pulls on some of the boy's clothes, grateful for some amount of restored dignity. Then she considers how best to get out of kindergarten.
