"What do you want?" Parker asked without commitment.
Ollie felt so excited about his plan that he hated to have to explain to the twins. They were nothing but urchins, holding him back... Regardless, he had to swallow his pride. His plan depended on their assistance.
"Could you help me move the playhouse against the fence?"
"Why?" Peter queried in a sing-song voice.
"Just help me. Please!" Ollie practically quivered from frustration.
The twins put their heads together. "Sure, we will help you out, Ollie," Parker said when they broke apart from their huddle.
In seconds, the three boys braced themselves against a plastic wall of the playhouse and began pushing the structure across the lawn to force it against the chainlink fence. "You did it!" Ollie exclaimed, running around to observe the means of scaling the entrapping fence.
He hoisted himself onto the roof of the playhouse as the twins watched.
"He's going to make a run for it!" Parker realized.
Ollie stared at the drop. From atop the roof of the toy house, the plunge looked a lot steeper.
"Where are you going?" Peter asked.
"I'm going home," Ollie answered. With that, he took a deep breath and dropped over the fence. He landed hard on the ground on the other side and collapsed in a heap. Nevertheless, he managed to stand and dust himself off. He looked through the fence at Peter and Parker. "Later, guys. Wish me luck!"
After his farewell, Ollie raced down the sidewalk as fast as his preschool-student legs could take him.
