It began when I made her clothes disappear

The Ring of Rajinn

added by Wonko The Sane 3 years ago BM

"I wish I knew how you worked!" She said. Suddenly information flooded her brain. The ring was called a ring of Rajinn, and was one of a number of rings made by dividing up the power of a genie. It could indeed grant wishes, but it had to charge up by the emotional energy of the user, and the bigger the wish, the more charging it took, so it was actually quite limited. Apparently with that last wish she'd run it totally dry. Furthermore, it had been attuned to the previous owner, so that only they could charge it. Last of all, a ring of Rajinn could not affect someone who was wearing a ring of Rajinn other than by giving them information. It could not locate other rings of Rajinn or detect their magic. This meant she also could not affect herself, or she couldn't if the thing still worked at all.

She screamed in a rage, not caring if anyone heard. It was useless! She'd dared to hope this magical ring might free her from her boss's control, might change things, but it was useless! She cursed all of reality and poured all of her hate into the ring. Work you damn thing! she thought. Come on! She closed her eyes and focused. I wish my boss would get what's coming to him! Unbeknownst to her, a small crack appeared in the gem.

Then a man appeared behind her, drawn by her scream. He put a hand on her shoulder. "Are you alright, miss?" he said. She startled, and turning she slapped his hand away, but as she did so the ring touched him, and as it did it's color changed from blue to red.

"Leave me alone!" She screamed. "I wish all you worthless men knew what it was like! I wish YOU were the second class citizens, that you were physically weak and vulnerable and the world was arrayed against you!"

As she spoke, the color suddenly drained from his face. He gasped as if he could not breathe, and then he fell to the ground, totally limp. She stared in shock. He looked dead as the grave. Then...something...changed. She couldn't quite pinpoint it at first, but the general ruckus of the city was different. It was quieter but...also the voices sounded different, more predominantly feminine?

Then more information flooded her brain? Apparently the wish to know how the ring worked was still in affect. The ring...she'd changed it! She'd...broken it? It would seem that while the ring was intended to use positive emotional energy, it did also store and seal away negative energy, but in her rage she had broken the seal and accessed that energy. In doing so she'd warped the ring, attuned it to her own will and personality, so that now it charged by sacrificing men instead of by emotion. But...more importantly, her wish! It had taken all the stored negative energy of centuries and granted her wish!

She rushed to the end of the alley and peaked outside and...it was beautiful! The whole city was more beautiful, as if it had been designed from the ground up by a master decorator rather than by the lifeless practicality of your average male city designer. There wasn't a lifeless grey road or an empty median in sight. Elaborate floral arrangements filled every corner. The architecture was more...liberated, less angular, less based in old greek design. The soft curves of the buildings soothed the mind. Moreover, the world looked to be a good hundred years ahead in technology. There were actual flying cars, and she saw one woman step into a pad and vanish. A teleporter?

But more importantly...the men! She could tell they were different, and not just by their clothes, which seemed more colorful and often more revealing, or by their stature and musculature, which were small and weak. There was something in their demeanor that was different, quieter and more restrained. She could tell from the look in their eyes that they were still men, still fundamentally violent, evil brutes, but in this world the dog wore a leash.

And the women! They were confident and beautiful, but clearly not by men's standards of beauty. They were beautiful for themselves, and they had amazonian proportions and stature, dwarfing the smaller men. She saw more than a few shameless lesbian couples walking hand in hand. It was perfect.
