The lobsters proceeded to follow the dictates of nature for the next two weeks, the male dashing out periodically to bring food back for himself and the female. Multiple times he came close to death, but narrowly avoided it each time. As their time came to a close another lobster was immediately lined up outside the male's den - lobsters being serial monogamists. Before the male could begin the dance again, however, there was a bright light, and he was gone.
The tank was technically smaller than the one in the restaurant he dimply remembered, but he was alone in it. There were a number of strange rocks...
...no. Wait...
...this water was clear of pheromones, and slowly the lobster mind cleared and Dan returned.
"Uuugh, my head..."
"Hey, little brother. Welcome back," Kat said with genuine warmth.
Dan twisted his eyestalks to see her familiar blurred shape hanging over the top of his open tank.
"Hey..."
"Sorry about your blue balls," she said, clearly holding back laughter.
"My...what?" Dan felt confused. The last thing he remembered was...
...breed...
"Oh GOD..."
Memories slowly began filtering back from the lobster-mind.
"Hey, don't worry, I can summon that second girl lobster, no problem, but we will need a bigger tank..."
"Knock it off Kat!"
Kat giggled at his distress, but then leaned forward and spoke more gently.
"Seriously, you ok?"
Dan began scuttle-pacing through his tank.
"I'm...I'm ok. Glad I'm safe and sound here at home."
"I'm glad you are too...I missed you at my birthday party. Both in the sense that I really wanted a nice lobster dinner..." she said teasingly, before gently reaching a hand into the tank to stroke her index finger down his shell. "...and in the sense that I was worried about my little brother."
Dan snorted in tired laughter.
"Ha ha. Yeah, sure. Missed you too."
"You did not, you were too horny to know anything."
"...point..."
Kat snickered aloud as she dried off her arm on a towel.
"Mom was a bit caught off guard by your 'decision' to have her first grandkids be lobsters."
"Ugh..."
"But we've been having Lobster Fridays per your suggestion," Kat added wickedly, "So you can look forward to being the family dinner as soon as I can figure out how to trick Mom into it."
Dan shuddered, but his arousal was less intense than before - momentarily he hoped it was because he was growing less attracted to it, but in fact he was merely tired.
"Yeah, yeah...say, where is Mom?"
Kat shrugged.
"Exact location, I can't tell you. This whole episode got her nervous as hell, so she's off taking an intensive scrying course for a few days somewhere in Greece, with Dad for company. Oh, for the record, you've been ill for the last couple of weeks, officially. Nothing too bad, just had to be quarantined. Your friends sent you a bunch of cards."
Dan clicked his claws excitedly.
"Hey, I'm just glad they remembered me."
"Yeah - I mean, I *could* have tracked them all down and magically edited their memories so you've always been our family's pet lobster to them..."
Dan tensed up.
"...but that would have been a hell of a lot of work for a temporary prank, so, no thanks," she giggled. "You worry too much, brother."
"You say that, but you're not the one on the menu."
He flicked his tail as he saw his sister's blob moving to pick something up.
"So, it's just us?"
"Yep. Tonight and tomorrow; Mom and Dad will be here tomorrow night. So, we've got a couple of things to do. First, I don't know about you, but I'm hungry, and second, we need to get you back on two legs."
"Yeah, gre-"
At which point the tongs closed around him, and suddenly he was out of the water, held aloft, being carried to the kitchen.
"Wha-?!"
"I told you, Lobster Fridays have gone very well," Kat said, licking her lips. "You've become my favorite food over the last two weeks, little brother. Or should I say, little dinner?"
