The urge to get the ball was strong, but there was also something else calling Alex to the house. Somehow, the idea of going in there and exploring that creepy place seemed alluring. Sure, it was creepy, but the thought of going in there, exploring that old place, rubbing the fact that he was brave enough to go in there in his friend's faces... it made him all the more determined to get into that house. There was, however, one thing he didn't know about the mirror's magic. If he were to stay in a reality for too long, the old Alex ceased to exist, the new form taking over.
"I'll go and get it." He said, turning around and earning a gasp from all three boys.
"W-what?! Are you crazy?" One of the Rodrigues Boys remarked.
"W-what of that place is haunted? I heard there's a ghost in there?!" The other chimed in.
This made Alex roll her eyes a little bit, crossing her arms. "Oh, c'mon..." He remarked, "ghost's aren't real. Watch, I'm gonna go into that house and prove there's nothing scary about it!"
Despite pleas from Teddy and the twins, Alex was already heading up to the fence, climbing it with minimal effort. Of course, he remembered himself climbing in trees that were way higher than this stupid fence, so this was no issue for a tomboy like him. Full of childish bravado, he headed up to the door, seeing the smashed window where the ball had gone through.
As he opened the door, though, the creaking made that brave attitude fizzle away a little bit, his knees trembling as he noticed how dark and scary the place was. Maybe he could just turn back and... no! The boys were watching, and he wasn't gonna let them think he was just a girly crybaby.
"Okay, Alex... just get that ball and head out..." He muttered to himself, taking slow and careful steps through the old house, floorboards and glass cracking underneath his childish sneakers as he inched through the house, trying to get that ball as fast as possible.
Just then...
