It was no good carrying on like this. James had to alert someone to his predicament, someone with a higher magical ability than Morgan, who seemed to be pretty near the top of the class. But who? He obviously got on well with Meghan, but she was still very much in the running for whatever was coming after this and he certainly couldn't stand to be embarassed in front of her. He had already alienated Carly, it seemed. Elise was out in the water.
Besides, any girl he approached would now assume it was because he was interested in them. It might come off as a little insulting if he instead asked if they could relieve his bladder so he could go and talk to Maria.
Suddenly he felt a tapping on his shoulder. He turned round to see Sara, the clumsy girl who had caused a commotion in the class earlier.
"I saw what she did to you" Sara had a determined look on her face "I can fix it"
It's fair to say Sara wouldn't have been James' first choice of saviour. He had seen first hand what her misfiring magic could do in class earlier. But he couldn't hold out much longer. He had no choice.
"Go for it" he grunted in obvious discomfort.
As Sara weaved her spell James tried not to put her off by showing how terrified he was. But she continued her incantation smoothly and undeterred and when she completed it...He felt fine. Good even, the relief of his empty again bladder almost enjoyable enough to make the previous discomfort worth it. Almost.
James checked himself over. Everything was exactly as it should be. He could hardly believe his luck.
"Thanks" James smiled.
"Don't mention it" Sara rightly looked proud of herself. She had successfully completed a demonstration on the test subject after all "Now I have my own surprise for Morgan, you'll see soon enough. It's going to be so funny!"
Normally James might have tried to stop her, but he didn't have time. Besides, it was Morgan. Who cared?
James walked towards Maria who was resting under a tree after her earlier exertions. She looked up at James and smiled. He was about to approach her when..
"James, over here!" Elspeth called suddenly.
Fucking Morgan. Now he'd missed his chance. He hoped Sara turned her into a sea slug and left her here in the imaginary ocean.
James shot Elspeth a pleading look and held up a hand to indicate he would like five more minutes. Was there any chance she'd take pity on him?
