As James breathed a heavy sigh of relief, he decided that he would go and talk to Morgan. All the girls seemed to be in relatively good moods, and many of them were excitedly pointing out how Elspeth was giving them ‘extra time’. James smiled to himself, proud to bring extra joy to the girls even if it was done unintentionally, and he wandered over to see Morgan.
Maybe it’s because he was in a good mood. Maybe it’s because his mum had raised him to forgive others. Maybe he sensed some sort of insecurity in her that hinted at a misunderstood, scared girl. Maybe it was kk three. Or maybe he didn’t want her to curse him any more.
As he got near her, he noticed Sara, who had been busy talking with Molly, readying herself to cast a spell on her as she had told him earlier. Hurrying over, James stopped her just in time. After some explaining and convincing, Sara sighed and lowered her hand, albeit reluctantly. James thanked her, and to make her feel better thanked her a second time for her bladder-soothing aid earlier, which brought an admittedly cute smile to her face.
James then went over to Morgan, who was standing alone, and introduced himself as politely as he could. “Hi, Morgan.”
Morgan turned around, and made a face equal parts surprised and annoyed. “Wh-What do you want? And why aren’t you desperate to take a wee?”
James laughed, not because what she had said was funny, but because it was such a ridiculous thing to hear no matter what the circumstances. This, however, annoyed Morgan further.
“Think I’m a joke? Will you still be laughing if I turn your thingy inside out?”
The threat quickly sobered James’s sense of reality up, and he raised his hands defensively. “No! No, sorry, I just..... I wanted to apologize. For earlier. I didn’t mean to crash into your and Carly and Maria. It was an accident, and..... I’m sorry, Morgan.”
Morgan stared at him, seemingly utterly surprised by this show of apology from someone she had knowingly tormented. She liked away briefly, twirling her hair with a single finger, visibly flustered.
“Oh, uh, well.....” she began.
