Jonathan awoke the next morning to the sound of a dog yapping. When he opened his eyes, Becky was no longer in bed with him.
"Honey....." He called out. "Coming!" She answered back.
When Becky came back she was carrying a small German Shepard pup in her arms. "Mrs Wilcox brought her earlier than she said." Said Becky and placed the pup down on the bed who immediately ran over to her new daddy. "Happy Birday!" She beamed. The pup was trying to lick Jonathan.
"I remember you used to say that you wanted a dog, and Mrs Wilcox's bitch just had puppies." She explained.
Jonathan looked back at her surprised, "I only ever told...." His wife nodded and he realised who she used to be.
"Alice Spencer!" He gasped. She had been in the same year as him, she had been shorter and fatter than him and had a massive crush on their P.E teacher, but besides him the other kids never paid much attention to.
"Told you I used to be invisible to everyone else." She said and sat down next to him on the bed, the pup ran over to her giddily. "You stopped talking to people six months ago," Jonathan said, remembering the drastic change in Alice's personality. "Nah, I just got some much needed work done," she replied, stroking the puppy. "And we both know you like the end result."
After a passionate shower together, Jonathan and Becky took Roxy (their new dog) for a walk to the park. Jonathan had gotten the day off work for his birthday so the two could spend the whole day together.
While they were out, he noticed something off about Becky, she had hardly had any breakfast and had almost been sick at the pretzel stand. "You okay?" He finally asked her, she sat down on a bench and shuck her head. "C'mon, I'm taking you home." He told her firmly and helped her up.
When they got back, Becky rushed to the bathroom to be sick, giving Jonathan cause to be concerned. "Everything alright in there hon?" He asked her but got no response, instead he heard her being sick.
Becky threw up her guts into the toilet, she had never felt this bad before. Slowly getting to her feet, Becky opened the medicine cabinet and looked inside for anything that might help. She found a pregnancy test.
Outside, Jonathan was sitting on the bed with his phone. He was looking up her symptoms and what he saw shocked him. He heard the bathroom door open and looked up.
"I'm pregnant." Announced Becky. Jonathan almost dropped his phone. "Are.... Are you sure?" He asked her. She nodded and held up the pregnancy test, it was positive. "How?" He asked stupidly, Becky stared at him. "Seriously? We used to sit next to each other in biology." She replied.
He changer the question, "when?" And she gave him another stare. "Have you forgotten last night!" She pointed to the still stained bed. A stupid grin appeared on his face. "We're gonna have a baby!" He shouted. "We're gonna have a baby!" She joined in the celebration, hearing the exitment, Roxy raced into the bedroom.
"You're gonna have a friend to play with!" Becky said to her, picking up the puppy to cuddle and and Jonathan wrapped his arms around them. "Guess I'm gonna have to ask for a raise at work." He smiled, Becky rested her head on his chest.
Two days ago he was Adam Beachfront, scrawny high school student, today he was Jonathan Richard: P.E teacher, muscle god, husband to Becky Richard and now soon to be father. How could life get any better?
