Allura and Beacon weren't what some people call a normal couple, what them both being hermaphrodite anglerfishes. Despite that, they still wanted to have a family together. The problem is that despite Animalians' reputation for hale and hearty breeders, they have not had any luck so far. They've been trying for a few months and Beacon was getting discouraged. Shi had Allura and hirself go in for fertility tests. The testing showed that they were quite capable of both fertilizing and being fertilized. The problem seems to simply be that they weren't in the right season for breeding. And it was pretty much impossible to determine what was the breeding season for a deep sea fish like the anglerfish. Not to mention the anglerfish's idea of breeding is to have the minuscule male latch onto a female and become its permanent gonads.
Some may say this is the wrong time for procreation, with the corona virus running loose. Beacon wasn't as concerned about that. As Animalians, shi, Allura, and their brood would be more resistant against the virus. Besides, hir babies wouldn't be born or hatched until well after the worst of the pandemic was over. Beacon wasn't sure exactly when the pandemic would start to die down, but shi had a gut feeling that it would be around Easter.
Speaking of gut feelings, Allura had noticed that Beacon was looking just a little bit rounder at hir waist. Allura suspected, but shi didn't tell Beacon just yet. Considering what happened during their binge at Thanksgiving, it could just be the result of Beacon staying at home more and being less active. But eventually, hir suspicions were confirmed in another way.
Beacon was walking a little stiffly before shi sat beside Allura on the couch. "Allura, honey, could you rub my feet?" shi asked.
"Pardon?" asked Allura.
"My feet have been so sore today," said Beacon.
"Well, whatever you want," said Allura. Shi knelt down and started rubbing hir mate's feet. Was it hir imagination or they did look a little swollen? Hir ankles look a little thicker too. "Beacon, we haven't had feet as long as you have, but is this normal?" asked Allura.
Beacon sighed and muttered, "I don't know." Just then, a thought occurred to hir and shi sat up. "Wait, I wonder if it means..." Shi got up and tottered over to the bathroom. A few minutes, shi came out of the bathroom, smiling widely. Despite hir many sharp teeth, hir happiness shown right through it. "It came out positive," shi said happily, "I'm pregnant."
"We're having a baby?" asked Allura. Then the weight of it fell on hir shoulders. "We're having a baby," she said, sitting heavily on the couch.
"What's wrong?" asked Beacon, "This is what we wanted. You're going to finally be a father."
"But we don't know anything about fatherhood," said Allura, "How could we? We're a fish. Our male half is as close to a father that our species has. Human fatherhood is so much more complicated."
Beacon sat down next to Allura and said, "I know it's more complicated, but it's also more rewarding. Think of how proud you will be when your kids are growing up. And we're not going to be alone. We've got plenty of friends now who will help us figure out parenting."
Allura gave Beacon a warm hug and said, "We love you."
Beacon placed a hand on hir stomach, feeling the small bulge that had been forming. "We love you too," shi said before kissing Allura. After a little bit, Beacon pulled back and said, "You know what I think would make you feel better?"
"What's that?" asked Allura.
"If you get to be the mommy for a little bit," said Beacon. Shi groped at Allura's breast to show what shi meant.
Allura gave a moan of pleasure and said, "We'd like that."
It take too long for the two anglerfishes to undress each other. Beacon moaned as Allura started stroking hir shaft. Beacon hasn't used hir penis as often in their relationship. While shi embraced being half-male, Beacon still tended to unconsciously default to feminine roles. Such as how shi was being the first to bear their children.
But then Beacon had a quick thought. "Wait just one moment," shi said before getting up. Shi quickly went to the bedroom before coming back with a condom in hir hand. Carefully, shi slid it over her considerable fish rod. "There," shi said, "No sense in us both getting pregnant right now."
"Hmm...that may be too many spawns at once," said Allura. While shi wanted to be a mother at some point, shi was well-aware of what happened with the Anaconda family. All three of them being pregnant at once made things very awkward and resulted in a very large mass birth that sometimes seems more than the snakes can handle. Allura wasn't even sure yet if Beacon would lay eggs or give live birth. It would be more prudent to only have one of them pregnant at a time.
"I hear some guys say this dulls the sensation of sex," said Beacon as shi got back to the couch.
"We'll make it up to you later," said Allura as shi spread hir legs.
Beacon smiled before positioning hirself. Shi slid in hir penis slowly, not wanting to rip the condom so soon. It may have felt a little duller, but Beacon was soon enjoying hirself. Especially when Allura started suckling at hir nipples. Beacon couldn't wait for the day when hir children would be doing that. And it would only be six months from now.
