It was no secret that there were a lot of people who wanted to join Animalia for the wrong reasons, but restrictions were only slowing those reasons down slightly. So spring break brought about a new program that was somewhat successful at slowing down said applications. This often involved babysitting newborn and relatively newborn Animalians while being recorded by nanny cams. While there were those who were upset at this kind of 'spying', the paperwork for the program made such a thing clear, so it was more like learning whether or not someone was capable of being a parent, and practicing parenting skills. But that didn't mean that amusing things didn't happen all the time.

Aida and Tomi were assigned to look after Quarry and Orlando's badger cubs, but there was a little surprise when they arrived. One of the badger cubs was paler than the other, much to Aida and Tomi's surprise. As they found out, the paler badger cub was a female cub that was born with leucism while the other, a male, was born with normal coloring.
Both Aida and Tomi were nervous with interacting with them, but according to Quarry and Orlando, the cubs were warmer to them than their first babysitter. The male cub had, reportedly, lunged and tried to bite their first babysitter, but because his teeth hadn't had come in at the time, it didn't cause any damage other than giving said babysitter a fright.
But much to Aida and Tomi's surprise, the two badger cubs were rather warm to them, apparently seeing them as differently colored members of their own species, which was technically the truth, and seemed to justify the program.

Jen-Jen was doing a brief story on the program and was doing a one-day babysitting with Louise to get some real information with the story she was doing. But what made it rather surprising was the playpen that held Louise's seal pup was similar to a small glacier. She was also caught a little off-guard when she couldn't easily see the seal pup, until black eyes opened up showing his perfect camouflage in a snowy environment.

Meg was getting an interview over her new liger cubs when she did a small jump of surprise. But the reason for that was a little bit surprising to the interviewers, but not to her.
"While they do have baby toys, apparently mom or dad's tail is still their favorite plaything." explained Meg, "But what was most surprising was the simple fact that I was capable of conception, let alone carrying them."

Andre and Melissa were also helping out with Bazooka and Sabine's babies. While they were clearly confused about Andre and Melissa, they weren't too threatened by them. But this did lead to a few amusing things going on.
After Bazooka and Sabine came home from their job, Andre and Melissa were found to be playing with their kids.
"It's wasn't too hard," said Andre, reporting on their day, "You just need to know what their cries are for and bringing what they need- Oooow!" He cried out in pain because one of them gave him a nip on the tail. But because of his fangs having not grown in quite yet, it did little damage to Andre other than give him a bit of a shock.

There was also an unusual thing going on due to another new member.
"So this is a friend of Lord Dorian who wanted to be a toad?" asked one scientist, who was looking at the event said British noble was organizing.
"I know what you're thinking," said his co-worker, "'too much Wind in the Willows?"
"But he's working at developing as different a reputation from his namesake." answered the first.
"But this event he's organizing for Animalia's amphibians is a little confusing." said the second.
"Well he did do his research before his conversion," replied the first. "In a single pond around this time, male toads outnumber the females 40 to 1. So the question of who gets the girl is answered only by a pond wrestling competition."
"He also has taken safety into account," said the first, looking over the drafts for his 'pond wrestling event'. "Pinning an opponent's back to the mat is substantially shorter due to the foot or so of water that the amphibian members get to wrestle in. There's also a number of moves that are considered illegal due to said amount of water."

Because of this spring in general, as well as spring break, were shaping up to be quite different from last year. But what was probably the biggest announcement was both the 2020 Olympic games in Japan, as well as Animalia's first dedicated comic book convention happening at relatively the same time. But because of the Coronavirus going on, not to mention not knowing how long the pandemic would last, the comic book convention was still having discussions going on about it.
