Sighing Jennifer she looks at the room in front of her, to call it a pig sty would be a disservice to pigs everywhere; she may be nose blind to this trash heap but she didn’t need to smell it to know that this room smelled disgusting, scanning the room from the doorway she starting at the most obviously used spot the desk, the trash was still piled on top of itself but it was more organized in comparison to everywhere else.
In the distance she heard the sound of an air-brake going off and decided she was in no way ready go to school and meet her friends in this state. She would at least need a plan for the future.
Continuing her sweep the laundry was piled high everywhere in the room covering the entire floor. The bed had a noticeable discoloration where she could pinpoint where Kyle slept not to mention all the trash on the bed making it clear that even if Kyle could have used the rest of the bed it would take a few minutes to push all the trash off to clear room for rest.
There were three pathways once you got into the room branching out from one main path to the door, the first led to the desk, the second was to the bed, and the third was to a bookshelf that was from what Jennifer could gather the only thing with clear organization in the room.
And she carefully made her way in and to the book shelf to see what he was interested in she could see a few books from school but mostly she saw comics with a few action figures she assumed on the shelves. On closer inspection she retracted her thought about this being organized every book was haphazardly placed on the shelf and the figures were grimy.
Deciding she had seen enough she whimpered at the colossal task ahead of her.
Walking around the house she opened every door she could find deciding the first thing on her list was to get some cleaning supplies.
Ending up in the small kitchen she looked under the sink and found some trash bags and some yellow latex gloves.
“Score” she said smiling to herself
Taking both she hurried back to her room.
Rounding the corner to where his bedroom was she nearly jumped out of her skin when she almost ran into a little girl, by the looks no older than seven. She also looked surprised.
“Kyle? What are you doing here? Your bus is the first one remember?” she said worry growing in her voice.
After calming down for a moment Jenifer lied “Don’t worry squirt, my school has the day off today so I don’t have to go.”
“Really?!” the little girl looked excited “does that mean I don’t have to go today too?”
“Sorry, it’s an older kid thing, you still have to go.” She quickly replied.
“What!!!! That’s no fair, I wanna stay home too?” She said in a whine
“Sorry squirt, it’s only for big kids. So you got to go. On that note… how do you normally get to school?”
The little girl looked confused and dejected but said “Chrissie comes and picks me up a little bit after you leave… do I really have to go, please I wanna stay home.”
“Getting a little annoyed by the little girl Jenifer said “yep it’s got to happen; you just… do what you normally would and I am going to be in my room.”
“OK” she said sadly as she walked away down the hall past Jennifer
Breathing a sigh of relief Jennifer hurried back to her room and started cleaning.
