"I'm here!" Rob called out from his hiding spot behind an archway to the living room. He poked his head around the corner, thankful that his girlfriend, Madelyn, seemed unscathed. "I'm glad you are alright, Maddie."
"Rob!" Maddie exclaimed.
As she approached him, Rob held out a hand, signaling her to pause. "Hold on babe. You may be okay, but your plan did not work out so well for me."
"Or me!" a familiar, annoyed voice called out.
While they were obscured from her view, the voice seemed to come from just on the other side of the wall. "Brendan?" Maddie questioned, recognizing the sound of the displaced voice as Rob's younger brother.
Rob turned to face the voice that was Brendan. "Quiet Bren. I am trying to not... shock her."
"Just get it over with all ready, and show her." Brendan complained from the other side of the wall.
"Give me a second to talk to her." Rob yelled back. He had turned away from the opening in the archway, so he did not see his curious girlfriend approach.
Brendan looked past his brother; his face grew smug, "Too late Rob."
"Oh my god!" Maddie exclaimed. Rob turned to see his girlfriend standing in front of them, gawking at what the teleportation bracelet had done to himself and his brother.
Slowly and carefully, Rob and Brendan turned to face Maddie. Their two, independent heads were side by side, joined to a single, broad torso. They stood about two or three feet taller than her on a muscular frame. Before the apparent accident, Rob and Bren had an ongoing friendly competition at the gym, building up their own muscular bodies. Like what had happened to her and Rob previous, the brothers' two bodies seemed to have merged, combining both of their traits. But unlike previously, their heads clearly remained separated.
Madie opened her mouth a couple of times, as if trying to find the words to say. After several moments, she asked, "What happened?"
"When you said to think of two different locations, I did not want to think of my bedroom, in case I imagined yours." Rob explained. He had been afraid that he would accidentally picture Maddie's bedroom, and they would simply teleport together. "So, I just imagined being on the front porch, by the door. Little did I know that this guy..." he pointed his thumb at his brother. "...had just parked and was walking up to open the door."
"And bam!" Brendan exclaimed. "I then grew a second, ugly head."
"Speak for yourself." Rob grumbled.
Maddie cut in, hoping to avoid them arguing. "I don't know if you guys were incredibly lucky, or unlucky. What are the chances that you would teleport to the same spot your brother was standing in, one in a gazillion."
"It was probably one in a trillion." Brendan spoke up. "I live here, Maddie."
Rob rolled his eyes. He had to admit, though, that the chances were astronomically. He and Brendon rented out the two-bedroom house together, to save money, but even so, he was incredibly unlucky to have teleported to the same exact spot his brother had been standing in.
"And you have your own heads!" Madie smiled. "It must be better than having to share headspace."
"Not really." Brendan complained. "Do you know how hard it was just to walk from outside to here? I had to drag this guy's lazy ass."
"Our ass." Rob commented, though not happily. "Our fusion sucks more than what happened to us, Maddie. We're like to half-people stuck together." He waved his muscular right hand in front of them. "This side is all that I can move on my own. He moves the other half of... us. Walking was nearly impossible with his arguing head beside me."
"Anyways..." Brendan cut in. "Where is the teleporting thingie. I'd very much like to have some personal space from my dear older brother."
Maddie started to laugh, seemingly at his brother's comment. "What is so funny?" Rob questioned.
"Um... why did you think it took me so long to get back here? My car is still here, and I wasn't about to test the limits of the teleporting bracelet again. I took the bus to get here, and I left the bracelet in my apartment." She snickered, playfully, "You guys will just have to spend some more quality time together."
