One of these cursed objects was a mirror. The curse was designed to make in a such a way that warriors would end up suddenly have develop an overwhelming urge to take care of their families over anything else. Their wives would also suddenly become incredibly fertile, among other things. But in the following chaos, the mirror had gotten lost. That mirror found its way into the surprisingly large store. The same store in which a middle-aged woman was perusing the shelves for a birthday gift for her college-aged son after a brief jog.
Laura's eyes landed on the old mirror. She gazed into the remarkably clear glass. Maybe Andrew could have a use for this, like using it to shave or something? She did notice that her lips were looking a little dry and used the reflection in the mirror to help reapply her lip balm. Pleased with how she looked, she walked up to the counter and placed the mirror in front of the old man at the cash register.
"How much for this mirror?" she asked. She felt a slight kick. Her baby was restless. She rubbed her rounded tummy affectionately to try to soothe her. The old man looked at the mirror, then wordlessly gazed at the woman's distended stomach in her workout gear. He blinked a few times.
"Might I add this Pendant of Protection?" he asked pointedly, handing her a box with a silver chain and small engraved coin. "Free of charge."
"Sure!" she said. "I'm sure my son would love that as well!" She paid for the mirror and took it and the box with the pendant out of the store before the old man could say another word of caution. He sighed and shook his head.
"Mortals," he grumbled quietly.
