Your head hurt... An assortment of different pains pained your head in a headache. Like the aftermath of amnesia... Speaking of amnesia. Who were you again? Oh wait. Yes. It was Alexander. A... American high schooler interested in astrophysics. Nothing major. You were just never too much of a popular guy. Regularly just looked down on because of being a cripple. You couldn't help it. You were born with a dysfunctional nervous system which made you unable to use your legs. You have been stuck to a wheelchair for your entire life. You still had your legs.
It was a mystery why you didn't want them removed, but you guessed it was just to keep it as a personal reminder of your motivation to live. You were different. Football was never interesting. Just a sport similar to boxing. Just less physical pain and more running for your life before you broke a bone. Luckily you would never play football or any other fancy sport because of your status as a crippled boy. Atleast there were some ups to being a cripple...
But now. Where were you? You opened your eyes, the unclear fog fading away til you could see clearly at the plain, dark grey roof. A wide circular light was hanging out of your reach. Oddly enough you were on a metal table in the middle of a circular and lifeless room, like a specimen awaiting dissection. There was nothing else save for you and the walls in this room. You looked at yourself, supporting yourself with your skinny arms as you look over your frail and naked body. Your motionless legs laying creepily bare and thin while your puny penis lay shriveled and flaccid like a dead rose. If it wasn't for modern care and society. Natural selection would have claimed your life the day you were born.
To think you still held on to false hope. That maybe. Just maybe. He would have use for them later... Hopefully not for cannibalism... You sighed and looked around the lifeless room once more before laying back. You weren't freaked out. Whats the point of freaking out? If this situation isreal then what canhedo? Run? laughably no. Resist? Thats baseline instinctual activity during situations of great uncomfort and distress. Luckily you weren't female, so you wouldn't have to worry about being raped easily...
You waited...
The silence remained unmoving...
Then the electronic sprawl of a speaker sounded clearly through the lifeless room. You winced from the loud, piercing static before it was replaced with an odd voice.
''Greetings Human!'' The originless speaker blurted out. You looked around at the different points you could guess the speaker was confusedly. ''Who are you?'' You asked. The speaker was silent for a second. ''I am the spokesperson for what in your language can closest be called Jgklfurnackler.'' The speaker said. The last thing it said coming out as a garbled mess. Barely making sense. Guess some languages are much harder to translate correctly than others. ''And then who may you be?'' The speaker asked back.
''Wouldn't you already know? Since you have me here and all.'' You calmly reply. ''Theres a bunch of other people aboard for experimentation so namesaren't really noticed, but certain attributes are noted.'' Thespeaker answered back. Curious. Other people? Other humans? No big deal anyway. ''Well. It's Alexander.'' You say. ''Well alexander! We have an eciting proposition and offer for you!'' The speaker says. ''And that is?'' You curiously ask with a raised eyebrow.
''We have a life changing crossroad to present! three choices which will forever change your direction in life!'' The speaker giddily answers. You momentarily frown before raising yourself up. lookingat the lifeless wall infront of you as if theres a camera. ''Then how about you let me know of them?'' You ask determined and curious.
''So. I have three choices for you. Undergo cybernetic augmentation to your lower body, and alternatively the modification of the rest of your body. Explore the ups and downs of being another species! No need to worry about becoming someting stupidlike a goat, we guarrantee a transformation into asentience capable body. Or you could join us as one of our own. Sound cool and good?'' The announcer informed. You pondered over these three choices. They all most definitively meant you'd get a second chance at life in a much more advanced civilization that humanity. And the most exciting of all was the prospect of regaining the one ability you never got. To walk and actually use your legs. But you wondered. Were these all?
''Are there any more choices?'' You asked curiously. The speaker didn't reply for several dozen seconds.
''Well. Yes! But the three i said were all the main choices. And we don't have more choices set up, but are capable of letting you choose your path. But there are quite some limits. Like us being unable to make you our captain or letting you go back to your species with some of our technology. We value experimentation but are not evil overlords wanting to enslave humanity, but we want to study. You have been given a choice to join us in a variety of ways. We are more or less forcing you to join us in one way or another but we promise far greater bounties of knowledge than that of humanities current reach.'' The speaker answered. You thought about it. It sounded promising and all. It sounded great. Like he didn't have to worry about the incapabilities of human consciousness at all. He was a specimen that these aliens saw as trustworthy.
