A drop of clear liquid dripped from Mary's left eyebrow. Her focus was suddenly torn from considering what she wanted to do.
Now that Mary wasn't focused inwardly, she realized that she felt hot, almost feverish. She walked back to the part of the lab she could see through the orange goop and was immediately surprised. Mary looked like she had just run a marathon - her face was flushed a bright red, sweat coated her arms, pooled on her horizontal backs, slid down her 6 legs and slid down her bikini tops to drip from her downward-facing breasts to the ground.
Sweat? Fever? This can't be good. My body must be rejecting the insect DNA.
Mary held a hand up to her forehead and instantly could feel that her head was far hotter than normally. At the same time, an intense pressure near the back of her 2nd segment drew Mary's attention. She saw nothing abnormal beyond the large amount of sweat, but internally she felt like she was going to burst. Mary quickly stripped off her skintight jeans and panties - she didn't know what exactly the pressure was, but she didn't want to risk the jeans getting in the way or obstructing her sight.
Mary's legs began to feel weak, and she started to wobble. She grabbed onto some nearby tables with all 3 right arms to help her stand upright, but her legs weakened further. She gently lowered herself to the ground and lay on her stomach. But the pressure on her 2nd and 3rd pair of breasts was too uncomfortable so she shifted onto her left side.
Oh crap and now I can't even stand up. I'm so conflicted. If my body rejects the centipede DNA and I somehow change back that would be great and I can get on with my life. But at the same time being a human centipede, even a short one, is pretty amazing and I wish I had more time to experience it. Fuck, I hope this doesn't kill me.
She waited, simultaneously terrified and curious. About 2 minutes after she first noticed the sweat the pressure shifted. Through her orange goop vision, Mary could see her butt growing out from her body at a rapid pace. From the time it first started growing to the time it grew the length of another segment took less than a minute.
Oh. my. god.
2 nubs pushed out the side near the front of the new segment, and 2 larger nubs pushed down at the back of the segment. Mary instantly guessed she was watching new arms and legs grow. In the span of a minute, all 4 limbs grew to their full size and form, and the rest of the newly grown segment finished its formation into another identical set of chest, torso and hips at the end of Mary's lengthening form.
Mary began to feel pins and needles. It started at the back of her 2nd segment - where her body used to end, and rapidly extended beyond the limits of Mary's senses of her body. At the same time, she felt the pressure shift and diminish, but not vanish.
I'm super glad I did that report on centipedes for biology class. I seem to recall that when centipedes grow pairs of legs, they always grow them in multiples of 2. Usually 4 legs total at a time. Does that mean... ?
Once more, through the goop vision, Mary saw her rear end - the newly formed one, push backwards and rapidly form into another segment. Like before, nubs pushed out and rapidly formed into full limbs while the new segment coalesced into its final shape. The sensation of pins and needles grew even further, and the feeling of pressure diminished entirely.
About a minute after the growth of Mary's 4th segment, the pins and needles feeling rapidly gave way to senses and control over Mary's newly grown body parts. She felt the strength return to her legs... Now 10 of them. Cautiously she shifted into a kneeling pose then stood upright. Her new legs moved as though they were an integral part of her form and she had always had them - instinctively and with exact precision.
Mary was relieved that she had stopped sweating, and the flushed look had passed. With all 10 arms she slicked the sweat off her body into puddles on the floor. She glanced back over her shoulder at her 2 new naked segments and smiled in relief at seeing with her own 2 eyes that they looked just like her first 2 segments.
Huh... Considering what just happened, that wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been.
Hmm, I still feel short. Wonder how many more times I'll grow. I wonder what it would be like to have 100 legs... I mean, I have 10 now, but...
Upstairs, one of Mary's orange goop eyes spotted her Dad's bedroom door open, and a very sleepy man emerge.
Oh, shit. Dad's up. Uhh... He usually spends like 20 minutes in the kitchen drinking coffee before he does anything. That means I have time to sneak back to my room.
Mary glanced around the lab.
Though... I do have time to maybe do 1 more thing.
