You quickly ran to Mike and hauled him off the ground. Supporting your brother on your shoulder, the two of you made your way through the corridor. After stumbling through repetitive hallways that seemed to go on forever, you eventually see what appeared to be an exit. With renewed energy you adjusted the grip on your brother and sprinted through the doorway.
The building exit led into the middle of a dark forest. It was nighttime and not a thing could be seen beyond low hanging branches. You didn't care though. Freedom was freedom. You set off into the forest with Mike, doing your best to avoid tripping over exposed roots. After hours of running, however, exhaustion began to set in.
"Got... to... keep going" you muttered to yourself.
Eventually, however, the exhaustion took its toll. With a long sigh, you and Mike collapsed against a nearby tree trunk. Sleep came almost immediately.
Your eyes shot open. In a panic you began feeling for your brother. Instead of another human, you felt the blankets of your bed. All you could do was sit as the panic slowly faded. "Was last night just a dream" you muttered to yourself. After assuring yourself that everything was alright, you got dressed and headed downstairs.
In the kitchen, your mother was making breakfast as your father read the newspaper.
"Morning honey!" your mother greeted warmly. "Oh, look it's sleepyhead number 2!"
Mike stumbled into the room looking much the worse for wear. "What's for breakfast?" he grumbled out.
"Oh, liven up hon!" your mom responded with a smile. "Eggs and bacon. Basic, but it'll get the job done"
"Hey, can one of you get your sister up?" your father requested. "I don't want her sleeping all day."
About to respond to your father, you were distracted by a buzzing in your pocket.
You opened your phone and read the message on screen. A cold feeling pierced your body as you read the words.
"You didn't think our game would end so easily did you? Let's resume shall we?"
Fear flooded your mind as you considered the ramifications of the message.
