Bill’s jaw dropped a little as the implications of what happened registered in his mind. That last sentence. He said he was a ‘father’ with ‘her’ daughter. Of course. That made sense that it’d made him a trans woman. He needed to fix this.
He shook hands with the lawyer and led Abby to a nearby bench. “Sit here a second, I need to do something on my phone.” Abby patiently complied. Bill generated another sentence. “This transgender parent is ready to leave the courthouse.”
Bill thought. If he changed ‘parent’ to ‘man’ he’d still be trans. He grimaced. Would that mess with his head and make him secretly want to be woman? Or would it turn him into a f-t-m transsexual. Neither sounded good. What if he changed transgender to cisgender. That should work, right? He edited the sentence and hit send.
Willa sighed. She knew right away that it had messed up because she still had breasts and was still wearing a dress. And she could tell she had a vagina. But was that bad? She thought of herself as a woman. She liked being a woman. She studied the sentence. It didn’t take her long to figure out what had happened. She generated a new sentence. It read “This woman is annoyed at this app.”
Finally! Something straightforward! She flicked her hair and puffed up her chest. Easy to fix. But why did she want to fix it. She identified as a woman. She didn’t want to be a man.
“Damnit,” she muttered. “By making myself cisgender I’ve fucked up my whole gender identity, haven’t I?”
She pondered her next move.
