As Mark lifted his finger from the iPad, he felt a chill come over him. His hand looked smaller and paler - his fingernails, which he'd never painted in his life, were a faintly glowing blue.
Looking down, he saw that his T-shirt and jeans had taken the form of a frilly dress, mostly an icy blue. On his collar laid an ornate weaving patter, which was repeated on the cuffs and hemline.
Mark looked at the nearest mirror. In place of the 23 year old man that should've been there, he saw a little girl with frazzled, dusty blue hair. He hadn't even noticed until then that he wasn't the only one changed.
To the left of him he saw a light pink teddy bear, with a heart shape gemstone embedded in its paw. To the right he saw a lanky white dog, standing almost as tall as he did. He assumed these had to be Theo and Kyle - which had been proved when they started talking.
"What did you do to us!" The dog snarled.
"It's - don't yell at her - she couldn't have - " The teddy squeaked.
Mark jumped off the couch, hoping to avoid getting torn apart. "Look guys, I'm sorry for fucking up." She almost laughed hearing her new voice. "If I know how to change back -" Within seconds, she saw her dress be replaced by a hoodie and sweatpants. Her hair got even messier, and was now a bland brown.
"Wait... That's your trigger!"
"My what?"
"It's your 'shazam'. Try it again." Theo was almost jumping out of its seat.
Mark shouted "Change back!" again, and sure enough, was transformed back into her ice queen self. "This is so cool! But... why do I have to be a little girl?"
"Beats me."
Kyle trotted up, holding an mouth envelope in his mouth, mumbling "foum bis om ta foor."
In it was a stack of papers. The top sheet looked like a birth certificate. "Mary Elizabeth Godwin's" 12th birthday was today. Other sheets showed that she had all of her shots, she had attended a school in Switzerland, and she was the sole leasee of her apartment.
Even her apartment had been changed. Walls were painted in pastel colors, and stuffed animals were around every corner. Theo's and Kyle's rooms had been changed into a closet and a 'study' of sorts. Really, this was a big apartment, but it never feels like that with so many roommates.
Mary waltzed over to her mattress, a queen size - bigger than her old one was, even! - covered in even more stuffed animals. She muttered a "change back", hoping this would all go back to normal in the morning.
