"I can't believe we have a device that can transform people and even change the world around them to compensate!" said Sherri to her friend as they walked up the staircase of their apartment building.
"Well, keep in mind that we don't actually know that it worked yet. This is pretty speculative tech here, and we just tested a really big change."
"Still, just the IDEA that Ryan might be sitting there as a helpless baby creature is so satisfying."
The two stopped at the familiar door, and Sherri got out her key and unlocked it. They opened up to find a yellow puddle, a room full of dog toys, and a little golden retriever puppy bouncing around trying to catch its tail in its mouth. The puppy yelped, looked up at them, ducked its head, and whimpered adorably. As furious as she had been at Ryan and Wanda, when Sherri saw what was left of her high school sweetheart, her heart just melted.
"Oh, you precious thing, aren't you just the sweetest puppy ever?!" said Sherri to Ryan in a baby-talk voice. She picked up Ryan and held him out in front of her face and handled his soft fur. She looked like a giant to him, and so did Monica.
Ryan was startled and confused. He had still been trying to understand his new tail when he was interrupted. He was embarrassed that his tiny bladder had not been enough to contain his liquid waste for more than a few minutes. And he still couldn't entirely process the fact that his girlfriend was now several orders of magnitude larger than he was. Moreover, she had left in the angriest bout of fury he had seen from her in ages, but now here she was cuddling him more affectionately than ever, with her friend watching them both with some weird glowing device. Sarah kept on baby-talking to him.
"See, we both realized that you were having twouble staying loyal to your Sherri-werri, so we decided that you would do so much better if we raised you for a few months from a puppy. Yes we did, yes we did..."
It was sickening. At least it answered his question, though.
Monica, meanwhile was sporting the wide grin of another tech triumph.
"Wow, it's amazing, Sherri. His description and vital signs are completely canine. He probably still remembers who he is and what happened to him, but the reality alterations mean that theoretically no one else does. We can see that even the physical evidence of his human existence has been replaced in your apartment. I've never seen matter-reorganizing AI this advanced since that experimental workshop Freshman year."
"Yes, Monica, this means that we're pretty much unstoppable at the time being. Now let's get wittle Ry-ry something to eat, why don't we, kuchikuchiku!"
Meanwhile in an office building four miles away, a 28-year-old security guard named Wanda Larson was patrolling the fifth floor with no memory of the hot janitor she had banged less than two hours ago or the jealous girlfriend he had told her about. She was eyeing up a young intern from accounting, and wondering if she might get lucky if a button popped out of her uniform at just the right moment.
