Mary hops over to the phone (hmmm... she didn't remember the counter being so high off the floor... has she gotten shorter?) and makes a few calls. She gives very little information over the phone, only saying that she's had a great idea for a business and wants their input, and they'd have to come over to her house right away.
Emma Townsend, research biologist that Mary had roomed with in college, is the first to arrive. Mary can't help but grin as she opens the door to let her in. The reaction is almost just as Mary had expected, but she's got a little surprise of her own.
"Emma?" Mary asks, a little confused. "I don't remember you being so tall..."
"Uh... uh..." is all Emma can make out.
"Oh well. I guess the whole bunny change or whatever you wanna call it's made me a little shorter. No big."
"A... a little shorter?" Emma manages, still in some state of shock as she staggers into the house. "You're like... barely four feet tall."
As Emma sits down on the couch, the doorbell rings and Mary opens the door. Jeremiah Toomes, independent would-be-entrepreneur who has money but no successful business yet. Former college boyfriend of Mary's. His response is not too different from Emma's.
"You did this?" Emma and Jeremiah ask each other in unison, referring to Mary.
"Both of you, relax." Mary smiles as Jeremiah takes a seat next to Emma. Mary hops up onto the coffee table and smiles softly. "Well, what do you think?"
"I think this is some wierd dream from the bad burrito I ate last night." Jeremiah says, holding a hand to his forehead.
"Nope, all real. And this is the idea I was telling you about. We make a whole business out of offering people an escape from the ordinary."
"By turning them into bunny people?" Emma asks, reeling back a bit.
"Or anything. I've got a huge case of these vials and the options are limitless. Limitless."
"Whhhere did you get them?" Jeremiah asks.
"Came in the mail a few days ago. I've tried a bunch out, they're a whole lot of fun. I'm thinking of sticking with this one, though."
"This is crazy," Emma says.
"I know, but it'll work! People would love to try this out, even if just for a temporary experience!"
"I don't know... seems fishy."
"Exactly, Emma - which is why before we do anything, I'd like you to run a few tests on the chemicals, and on me - just to see what makes them tick. What do you guys say?"
