First you notice you are unable to move and your eyes landed on what was supposed to be your body. It was a machine. Your head was attached to a machine with various lights and hosepipes, most of them filled with a red liquid.
“What’s this? What happened to me! Mom? Dad?” You try to say but your words were still gibberish, you looked at your parents and start to hyperventilate.
“Everything will be alright, but you need to calm down”
“Your mom is right son, you freaking out will only make things worse”
You try to control your breathing after hearing the beeping of the machines surrounding you accelerating.
“Easy buddy, feeling better?” said your dad
Knowing that word wont come out of your mouth you try to nod your head, your dad seemed to notice it and looked back at your mom.
“Honey, would you and two give us a minute? I need to explain some things to Max”
Your mom nodded and took Kenneth with her, while your dad pulled a chair closer.
“Son, this will be a bit hard to understand but you need to know that everything will be back to normal, you just need to wait and trust me.
Listen Max, none of us is angry at you for stealing the car, your mom and I were very worried…” he looked at you waiting for a reply but your head remained still.
“How about this, one blink for a yes and two blinks for a no” he said showing you two fingers. “Do you understand what I just told you?”
You blink once trying not to cry.
“Good, now during the car accident most of your body suffered a lot of damage, almost irreparable, but thanks to the advances in technology we are able to regenerate every broken bone and damaged organ but, that procedure can’t be carried out while keeping your brain alive.”
You notice tears running down your face as your face turns red.
“Come on son, don’t cry, I told you everything will be alright. You see, we can’t carry on with this procedure without causing brain damage, which is why we separated your head from your body, to keep you alive while we restore your body. Right now your head is attached to an unique life support system. Are we clear? Do you understand?”
You clear your nose and blink your eyes.
“Great, unfortunately we can’t take all this machines out of here, because they are property of the hospital, which means you will remain in this room until your body is fully functional. You are probably wondering when will that be, right?”
You blink once
“ok, we are not really sure when but it will probably take over one month” Your dad probably noticed your disappointment and continued “it might be a bit boring to remain in one place without doing anything at all, that’s why your mom and I took the decision of making another surgery, to transplant your head to a temporary body so you can keep on with your life”
Then you imagine how could it would be to have a robot body, like and android, you could be like a superhero!
“Right now your mom and I haven’t decided on the best suitable option but when you wake up you will have a new body, now go to sleep son”
Your dad pressed a button and suddenly you start feeling drowsy, your eyes slowly starting to close and the last thing you see before falling asleep was your dad caressing your head.
