Jeff looked over his profile and felt a pride at the family he had instinctively swell within him. He knew intellectually that a few minutes ago he'd been Mike's son, but now looking at the details of his family profile he felt different feelings than he had before, of a life well spent... it was just a shame that all of these memories he was starting to ponder about couldn't be actually lived by him. He wanted to help his son after the death of Jen, he wanted to be there at the birth of his first grandson. He wanted to be there at his son's wedding, his graduating from college, graduating high school, first day of school, his birth, marrying Rosie, joining the Navy, getting his tattoo, sneaking off during a football game to lose their virginity--all of it. He wanted to experience the life he saw programmed before him, not just vaguely remember it all.
But then the Chronivac could do that... he could be there for all of those memories and more and live that life. And so without much thought, Jeff took up the mouse in his hands and began searching through the options on the machine until he found exactly what he was looking for:
