Gonna lay my burden down, thought Caitlin as the attendant led her to the body switching chamber. From the moment she had decided to sue for Joey's body, she had consciously avoided any emotional bonding with the children she was carrying. She focused her mind on the inconveniences. Not that she bore them any grudge--she hoped that the wealth of Joey's family would ensure them happy childhoods, and she suspected that Joey might grow up and become a responsible mother--but the plan was to sever herself from them legally and emotionally, and Caitlin had the mental discipline to carry it out.
"I am required to inform you that as the aggrieved party, you have the right to change your mind at any point before we begin the process."
"Thank you" said Caitlin "But no. I've sat down to pee for the last time." The attendant chuckled.
Caitlin eased her heavy body onto the switching table. The attendant began to attach the electrodes that would transfer Caitlin's mental self into Joey's body. "Start counting backwards from ten" the attendant said.
"Ten" Caitlin began. "Nine. Eight. Seven."
Caitlin lost consciousness.
