Ollie rummaged through his old boxes, and sure enough he found one full of costumes he wore when he was a child. There were any number of things in here from superhero costumes to an angel and even an old costume of a dragon. Those were all cool, but he was looking for a costume he specifically remembered wearing at this age, the last time he went trick or treating. He continued digging, tossing out one of his sister's old costumes of a princess dress and tiara and then found what he was looking for. The costume wasn't much, just a pair of plastic horns, a spaded tail and a pitchfork. Holding it up, Ollie grinned.
"My demon costume! Awesome."
The costume was missing the red paint that came with it, and the red suit that came with it as well but he hoped that maybe these simple parts of it would work. Heck for all he knew, it would just be a normal costume on him, but at least he could relive the memories. Making sure he still had on the ring, he donned the horns, and pulled on a pair of old boxers so he could attach the tail before taking the pitchfork.
"Ok ring, do your thing!" he thought to himself, trying to concentrate a bit, hoping against hope. He waited a minute, but nothing happened. Ollie's heart sank. "Course, should have figured it wouldn't just make me a demon from an old costume." He thought. "Well at least I can sort of relive the feeling of that last Halloween."
He moved over to the mirror, and the moment he did he stopped short. The reflection it showed him was completely different from what he himself saw. Instead of 13 year old Ollie standing there in fake demon horns and with a fake tail and a plastic pitchfork, he saw something else. The creature in the mirror was at least the size of his adult self, with rippling muscles and dark red skin. A real pitchfork of dark iron rested in thick black clawed fingers, and a swishing and heavy spaded tail thumped behind him. His feet were large, dark black cloven hooves, and as to his face....it was monsterous. It was like something from nightmare, with deep, glowing yellow eyes and huge forward curving horns and protruding fangs.
Ollie quickly realized what was happening. If he was a true demon, he wouldn't appear that way in the mortal world! He would take an innocent guise! That meant the creature there was ....him! His heart hammered in his chest. Why didn't he feel different though? Surely he would feel different. Then another thought occurred to him, this one more frightening. What if that demon there .... was inside him, possessing him!
He quickly threw the pitchfork away and scrambled to brush the horns and tail to the floor. The image in the mirror quickly faded as he stood there panting....
