Being dressed as a preschooler is an obvious downgrade from kindergartener, but it’s an upgrade from toddler, so Laura removes the toddler outfit and slips on the preschooler one. She scowls slightly at the only underwear option being training pants, but it’s better than a diaper. When she finishes getting dressed, in a pair of overalls and T-shirt, she is glad to see that the training pants on underneath aren’t visible.
Laura puts the dice into one of the overall’s pockets and wanders over to the play area, avoiding the children dressed as preschoolers. She doesn’t want to get into another mistaken identity situation if they belong to a school group like the kindergarteners. Her doubts are proven when a chaperone gathers all the preschoolers and ushers them out of the restaurant and onto a bus.
Laura emerges from her hiding spot. Now that she won’t be mistaken for a preschooler on a field trip, she has a better shot at getting to the train station and onboard in time.
