All of a sudden, a memory hit Jen. It was in middle school. She was the new kid, and people weren't sure how to handle her. She was a different girl back then, one who was still a bit young at heart. One day she got told that Monday was Pajama Day. Jen, at this point, wasn't one who cared much about her appearance just yet, so she came in her favorite pink pony PJs, white bunny slippers, even bringing a beloved stuffed animal.
It wasn't until she got to school that she realized it was a joke.
When she entered, phone cameras flashed and kids were pointing and laughing. She tried to rush out the door, but kids were blocking it. Eventually the laughing, name-calling, and cameras got to her and she burst into tears. From that day on, until she changed herself into the bitchy cheerleader she was, her nickname was Crybaby Jenny. People did things like stick pacifiers in her mouth, give her bottles of milk, the works.
The mere memory made her tear up, and now she was seriously regretting panting this freshman.
"Wait!" she exclaimed as tears rolled down her face.
"Kyle....I'm sorry for humiliating you."
For a few moments, Kyle wasn't sure what to say. He seemed a bit suspicious.
"How do I know you're being sincere?"
Jennifer gulped. She had no other choice. She HAD to tell him.
"Because......I got humiliated once myself."
She told him what happened and that it was the reason why she became who she was. By the end of the story, Kyle was speechless and Jen was practically weeping.
"Oh....wow....." he said.
"That's......I mean, it doesn't excuse what you did to ME, but....damn.....that's cruel....."
"I've tried to repress it, but this phone call brought it back. I really AM sorry. It was cruel of me to do."
Kyle nodded.
"I guess we're both on the same page then, huh?"
"I guess."
They were silent for a few moments until Jen spoke up again.
"So.....now what?"
"Well, I still have to give you the curse. I mean, I can't take it back now, and you never gave me a response within a minute, so you're stuck with both."
Jen shrugged.
"Okay," she sighed resolutely.
"What did you have in mind?"
