To Laura’s relief, the toddler outfit is her size. She quickly removes the preschooler outfit, puts on the diaper, diaper cover, and romper, and then stuffs the preschooler outfit in the diaper bag. Since she didn’t actually shrink, though, she’s a bit concerned that whatever chaperone finds her might recognize her. She searches in the bag quickly for something to increase the illusion of her being a toddler.
Laura puts her hair into ponytails, and then she stumbles across a pacifier in the bag. Footsteps sound behind her. Quickly, she pops the pacifier into her mouth and sits on the ground. A chaperone comes over to her. He crouches down to smile at Laura.
“Hi, sweetie, did you see a girl a bit older than you come this way?” he asks. Laura shakes her head, sucking on the pacifier. “Okay. Thank you.” The chaperone walks away. Laura sighs in relief. Now that the moment of danger has passed, she can put something on better suited for her.
“Oh, what a cute little girl,” a voice gushes. Laura turns around. A woman has walked over. She picks up the diaper bag Laura stashed the preschooler outfit in. “Adorable.” The woman walks away. Laura’s mouth falls open in shock. The pacifier tumbles out.
After a moment of panicking, Laura calms down. She reminds herself that the woman’s diaper bag wasn’t the only one. She might be able to find better clothes in a different one. Maybe she’ll even find a kindergartener outfit. At least she’s not an actual toddler, and not trapped on a bus. She can make this work out for her.
Laura gets up and goes over to the other diaper bags to search for better clothes.
