Laura is relieved to have seemingly escaped from any huge side effects as a result of the dice breaking. She sits in silence during the ride, trying to think of a way out of this. However, she finds herself getting distracted before she can come up with anything. The children all begin to sing “The Wheels on the Bus”, and Laura excitedly joins in.
They come to a stop in front of a school. The preschoolers are ushered off first. Laura allows herself to be herded inside with her new classmates. As they walk down the hall, she feels pressure building in her bladder. She crosses her legs, dancing anxiously. The chaperone she sat next to on the bus sees this.
“Remind me of your name.”
“Laura.”
“Laura, don’t worry, we’re almost there,” the chaperone says. The preschoolers come to a stop outside of a classroom with a sign on the door reading “Bumblebees”. Once in the room, Laura is quickly brought over to the classroom’s bathroom. The chaperone comes in with her, but she doesn’t care. In the bathroom, Laura tries to remove her overalls, but fails to do so. The chaperone helps her. Laura pulls down her training pants and sits on the toilet just as her bladder bursts. She lets out a sigh of relief.
“I made it!” she chirps. The chaperone smiles at her.
“Yes, you did. Good job,” he says kindly. When Laura finishes, she lets the chaperone wipe her, not thinking of it as being an invasion of privacy, but a matter of fact. She pulls her training pants up, lets the chaperone help her into the overalls, and washes her hands.
With that taken care of, Laura leaves the bathroom. Her new classmates are all sitting in a circle on a colorful carpet, listening to a young woman read to them. Laura finds a spot next to a girl with blonde pigtails and sits. Like the other preschoolers, she is engrossed in the story quickly.
After story time, they are led to sleeping mats set up in a corner of the room. Laura picks the sleeping mat next to the girl she sat with during story time, Becky. She lays on the mat and closes her eyes. As she sleeps, her bedwetting problem resurfaces, and she wets her training pants. The sensation wakes her from her nap. She sits up, feeling her soaked training pants squish under her. The teacher, who has spotted her, comes over to check on her.
“Something wrong?” the teacher whispers.
“I’m wet,” Laura whispers back.
“That’s no problem, as long as you were wearing protection. Were you?” the teacher asks. Laura nods. “Good.” She takes Laura’s hand and brings her over to the bathroom to be changed.
