James ducked behind a chimney, where he felt fairly well obscured from the view of those below, and took a moment to assess his situation. On the plus side he wouldn't be spending the rest of his days as a winged rat, on the minus side he was stuck naked on top of a building near his work on a less than sunny afternoon.
He reminded himself to stay calm, think logically and avoid the temptation to try and wish his way out of this. Looking round he noticed a hatch, the cover of which had been painted in a way that had initially camoflaged it from him. James crawled over and, to his relief, it opened to reveal a rickety ladder leading into darkness below. With no better option likely to present itself, the nude young man carefully descended the ladder.
James then found himself in some kind of attic. There were voices below, but clearly he was alone. If he waited it out here he might just be able leave the attic when the office workers left, find something to cover himself up with from lost property or wherever and make his way home. It wasn't a perfect plan, but it was a vast improvement on being a pigeon and he was just allowing himself to feel a little optimistic when suddenly..

"This stuff about wishes is clearly all nonsense" Nicola was visibly starting to lose her temper with Meredith "I just made a perfect wish and nothing happened! This is so obviously a scam"
"So your friend simply vanished into thin air?" Meredith mocked, raising her customers heckles yet further.
"Any amateur magician could make it look like someone had dissapeared" Nicola could feel her cheeks flushed with frustration "But that's all you've got. The point is I'm not scared of you or your stupid wishes"
"That's fine" the proprietor shrugged with indifference. She really knew how to push Nicola's buttons.
"So it really doesn't matter what I say" Nicola was in full on rant mode now "I might as well wish James..."
