Kale relaxed in bed, his mind half asleep. His brain wandered from one dream before finally resting on a particularly fun fantasy. He imagined himself, just himself, walking down the beach. He was wearing board shorts, his favorite color. His free arm was around some fantasy girl whose name he could not recall. He leaned in to kiss her cheek, and he was surprised to find it prickly from unshaven hairs. Kale thought it was weird that this girl needed to shave, but he smiled lazily anyways.
He pulled the girl's face towards his own and gently kissed her lips. She smiled and then she kissed back, drawing him closer. He felt a large, rough hand hug his shoulder. Part of his mind found it unusual that this hand seemed so hairy, yet this fantasy girl seemed to have shaved. Kale decided that he did not care. He did not want to ruin the fantasy. The dream shifted, and he was lying on a beach towel beside the girl. They held each other tightly and kissed again. His heart began to race; he felt a stirring in his board shorts. Kale leaned into the fantasy girl to continue kissing, while his hand gripped his cock firmly. The girl moaned in unison with him, as if he was pleasuring her as well. They kissed again, and this time, his mind wondered why her smooth face was so prickly.
With his lips around the fantasy girl's he opened his eyes. The face in front of him was not a girl though. The face that Karl saw seemed strikingly familiar, as if it was a face just like his. Realization dawned on him in an instant. "Karl! Stop!" He spat, as he pulled away harshly. Kale felt a sudden, painful jolt along his abdomen. He could get no further away.
He heard gagging beside him, "Kale, did we just..."
Kale continued to look away, failing to wipe the memory clean. "I don't want to talk about it..." He managed to say. Kale could not believe that he had been making out with his brother. They must have been hornier than he thought, for their brains to play such a cruel joke on them. He wiped his mouth, trying to remove his brother's residue. His leg glanced his brother's underneath the sheets, and he felt their hips shift wildly to the left as Karl pulled his leg away. They seemingly had the same idea of being as far apart as possible. Though being apart was something they would never experience.
Kale missed those years growing up, when he had his own body. He envied, hated pairs of twins he saw on the streets or during classes that still retained their individuality. He and Karl told people that they were fused together for most of their life; he told people that their nickname in high school was "the Karles". But that, all of it was a lie. It had really only been six years since the fateful day that the mad Francois Luisonne released the Duosion energy, cursing him and his brother.
In that moment it was released, the blast of energy pulsated across the globe; it fused everyone who was skin to skin contact. Some people became charged and were fused hours, or days later. The world had changed, but only for a moment really. Some learned to control this strange energy within them. It became a fad to see people, movie stars even, fused together in variety of ways. But eventually, the thrill of being fused became an annoyance, a hatred. Luisonne led the world's greatest in finding a counter to the Duosion energy, and he was successful. His treatment cured nearly every person on the planet. The energy disappeared, and no new cases were ever reported. However, a rare few, a fraction, less than 1% of 1% of 1% of the population were permanently joined to their original partner.
Kale and his brother were one of these 'lucky' pairs. He remembered the day vividly. They were 18, having graduated high school, and decided to open up their college acceptance letters together. Each was accepted to their college of choice, on opposite sides of the country. Kale hugged his brother tightly, and he felt his twin wrap his equally strong arms around him. A moment later, he only felt one arm around his shoulder, and he only felt one of his arms wrapped around Karl.
Kale sighed, letting the memory fade. He turned his head to glance at his brother, whom was already facing him. "We need to get a girlfriend." Karl stated, as if that were the easiest thing in the world.
"Good luck with that." Kale sighed again.
Learning to share one body with his brother had been frustrating, but it was not all bad. One of the more difficult parts was the stigma of their condition. Urban legends followed them, stating that they were still infected with the energy. Intercourse or the simple act of kissing could infect 'normal' people. However, that was proven false by scientists years ago. Kade and his brother, like the handful of others still afflicted, had no trace of the strange energy. The worst they could pass on to others was the flu.
"We're hungry... Lets take a shower and head to the cafeteria." Kale said.
