You're still in shock about Jake turning into a raccoon right in front of your eyes. You're staring into space for a few minutes, lost in thought before Chris' voice interrupts you "Maybe we should take him back home and do some more research." You definitely don't want to keep messing with the remote right now and end up with the same fate as Jake, so you agree. "Yeah, its probably a good idea to not mess with the remote until we know how it works. I don't wanna turn into an animal like Jake did." You look down at the raccoon, who looks a bit guilty, probably because he knows Chris was right to want to play it safe and try and figure out what it does before messing with it.
Chris takes the basketball sized sphere still in the ground as well as the device that was sitting on the ground next to Jake and puts them both in his backpack. You scoop up Jake's clothes that are lying on the ground and put them in your backpack. Once you pick up everything, there's no evidence of any of the events that happened minus a small crater and a raccoon. You look down at Jake, who is sitting there staring up at you with puppy dog eyes. You look back at him a bit confused. "Uhh do you want me to carry you or something" He nods his head and you pick him up and put him in your backpack, his head and arms hanging out the back of the half opened backpack. You decide to ease the tension and tease Jake. "Not gonna lie, you look pretty cute like this. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to have a cute pet raccoon with human intelligence." This seems to piss him off as he lets out an angry chitter and hits you on the head with one of his paws.
Eventually you two make it back to Jake's car and get in. Chris decides to drive, and it takes some time for him to get used to Jake's janky old car that he used to drive you all here. It's getting late, so you decide to stop for fast food on the way home. Even with his changed form you decide to get Jake something to eat as well. You aren't exactly sure what raccoons normally eat, but you're pretty sure he wouldn't like it. You decide to eat your food in the parking lot, so that Chris can eat as well. Still sitting in the backpack, its a funny sight seeing a little raccoon eat out of the fast food bag in the back of the car. The mood seems to lighten up a bit as you all get accustomed to this new reality. There's some joking around between you and Chris, and a lot of jokes at the expense of Jake.
Eventually you make it to your house that you three and James share. You just realize that you never let him know about the events that happened today. He doesn't seem to be home yet though, probably still helping his dad with his work. You spend a few hours looking online for any information about this, but to no avail. Eventually you and Chris fall asleep on the couch exhausted next to the curled up raccoon.
