“I don’t see the harm with messing with it” you say eagerly “What’s the worst that can happen really?” Jake looks like a little kid at a theme park after you say that. He seems incredibly exited to mess with this new device you all found. Chris on the other hand, looks incredibly nervous, probably not really all that eager to mess with some strange device that fell from the sky.
You all hover over Jake as he tries to navigate the device, the screen shifts and occasionally more DNA strands come up on the screen along side the language you can’t understand. He hopelessly presses random buttons and moves around some of dangling wires to no avail. After his antics, some of the wires are hanging off the side of the device. When he presses the buttons, something happens on the screen, but you don’t really know what it means. “Jeez this thing is hopeless, we’re never gonna figure it out” Jake complains.
“See I told you!” Chris says in a snarky voice “We should just take it home and research it until we know what it actually does.” Jake seems frustrated at this point and mad that Chris was probably right. He starts mashing the buttons on the device out of frustration and new stuff continues to pop up on the screen. He then flips the device over to reveal red button on the back side of the device. It's pretty shocking that he hadn’t noticed before. “Ooh this is a new button.” He says before immediately pressing it.
At that moment the screen of the device brightly displays a bunch of the alien language before flashing a bunch. The device lets out a ray of green electricity and a large buzzing noise. The green electricity seems to connect with Chris, who is standing right next to Jake. "uh guys... I feel all weird" Chris says quietly. His arms look like they're all covered in brown fur and you look at his hands which look all disfigured. You see this brown fur go and cover his entire body. His tight athletic clothes are now looking pretty baggy on him as he looks a good bit smaller than before. Now his face looks much different than before and his ears look to be much further up on his head and what appears to be a black nose. You can now see some lighter colored fur covering his neck and some of his face. You look behind and it almost looks like there's a tail coming out from his behind through his baggy clothes. Eventually his entire body disappears under his clothes and you can see a moving lump beneath the clothes.
Eventually a brownish colored river otter comes out of the pile of clothes and looks at you guys. Though hard to read his expression, it seems to be of disbelief. He is looking had his webbed hands and at his long tail behind him in shock. He spins around to view his whole body in disbelief. He tries to call out, but all that comes out is animalistic noises. Clearly shocked by the noises he covers his muzzle with his paws in disbelief. "Chris?" You call out. The otter seems to recognize this and looks over at you and Jake. It must be Chris. "What the fuck, how did this happen?" musters Jake. You finally fully grasp what just happened. "The device!" you call out "It must've done this!"
