You find the section on wolves and find the detailed drawing appealing. You run your finger over the paw print and feel a sudden jolt coming up from the page. What was that?
A chill washes over your body and settles into an electric tingle down in your feet. Soon your feet start to become very uncomfortable as though they are stretching out, becoming too long for your shoes. Before you find a place to sit, you find yourself walking on tiptoes. You sit down at a nearby desk, look around that no one is around you in this part of the library, and start untying them. It really does look like your shoes are getting stretched.
By the time you get your shoes off to take a look at what's going on with your feet, it's pretty clear that something drastic has happened. There's a light, brownish-gray coat of fuzz sprouting all over them. Your feet really are longer, your toes have thickened up, and there are bumpy claws sticking out of the ends. Reaching down, you can feel thick pads of skin down on the bottom, which feel very strange to touch. The continued growth of fur and the fresh memory of the drawing confirm the impossibility of what's happened: you have wolf paws now!
As the fur growth continues up your legs into your pants, you don't really know what to do. Your first instinct is to go find a place to look over yourself some more and examine the situation a little more in private, especially since you're not sure if you're going to have to take off your pants. You make a beeline for a little-used restroom on this floor and stumble around on your new feet. The rough library carpet feels really strange against your bare paws. There's no chance of getting your shoes back on. Your thighs and calves are shrinking, which is making it really awkward to walk in a human posture especially on tiptoes. You go into the stall, a little disgusted that your own bare skin is touching a wet bathroom floor, but relieved to have some privacy to try to figure this out. You close the door and roll up your pants leg to find more and shaggier fur growing up there. You gulp as you realize you don't think it's over.
