The trio walked back into a main street as Emily smoked the cigar and Nicole finished hers.
As they walked, Emily heard another girl walking behind them. The girl laughed and ran off. Emily swore that she heard clopping. When she looked to see where the animal that made the sound was, Emily saw neither animal nor girl.
"That was weird, where'd the sound of hooves come from?" Emily asked.
"Who knows," Nicole said.
"I wouldn't worry about it," Evelyn said.
"Where do you think all of the other kids went?" Emily asked.
"Probably went to sleep or something," Evelyn said.
"Relax, they have to have gone somewhere," Nicole said.
Emily swore she heard a donkey braying somewhere in the distance. Emily didn't recall see any real donkeys anywhere on the island.
They'd finished their cigars by the time Nicole seemed to have found what she was looking for.
"Over there! Now that's more like it," Nicole said.
Nicole ran with Evelyn and Emily following until they came to a group of large kegs on a stand. Emily noticed that the nozzles were each in the shape of a donkey’s heads.
"Finally, some beer," Evelyn said with a huge smile.
"Come on, Emily" Nicole said.
Emily rubbed her chin. "How come it has a donkey's head on it? I saw other fake donkeys before."
Evelyn shrugged her shoulders. "The guy that runs this place must have a thing for donkeys."
Nicole chuckled. "Just be glad the beer comes out of their mouths."
"I know it's weird, but it's free," Evelyn said. "I'm not gonna be picky."
"You ever try beer, Emily?" Nicole asked.
Emily shook her head.
Evelyn looked at Nicole. "Looks like we need to show her how fun it is."
Nicole nodded and they filled glasses for themselves and for Emily.
"Come on, try it," Evelyn said.
Emily raised the glass to her mouth and took a sip. she wasn't all that crazy about the taste.
"It's okay I guess," Emily said.
Evelyn shrugged her shoulders. "You get used to the taste. Though the taste isn't why you drink beer."
"What do you mean?" Emily asked.
"Drink some more and you'll see," Nicole said.
Emily tried another few sips. She watched as Nicole and Evelyn downed the entire contents of their mugs in single gulps. They both laughed before pouring another mug full.
She saw how happy the beer made Nicole and Evelyn feel. She wanted to experience that for herself. She fought back her dislike of the taste as she drank the rest of the contents of the mug.
It was then that she started feeling a sensation similar to being dizzy but in a more enjoyable way. She also felt giddy and a little more willing to misbehave. She’d never before felt anything like this. It was a strange yet wonderful feeling. A smile crossed her face as she poured herself another beer.
Suddenly, Nicole and Evelyn began to feel uncomfortable with their clothes and scratched their bodies. They downed their second mugs and put the mugs down.
Emily watched as both girls removed their sneakers, socks, pants and shirts before also removing their bras and panties.
“What the hell are you doing? You’re totally naked!” Emily shouted.
Nicole laughed. "I don’t know, but for some reason I feel free!"
"Yeah, It's warm and these clothes began to make me feel uncomfortable, so why not?" Evelyn said without feeling ashamed to be naked outdoors.
"By the way, lil’, don't be afraid to take a look. We're not ashamed of our bodies. Remember, they said no rules," Nicole said.
Emily gulped. She wasn't quite ready for that but maybe soon. She resumed drinking her second mug.
That was when things took a turn for the outright bizarre.
Emily watched as both Nicole and Evelyn's ears grew longer while brown fur covered the outsides and light brown the insides. Within seconds, their ears impossible to identify as anything but those of a donkey.
Nicole and Evelyn turned around. Emily could only watch as they both gained long brown fur covered tails tipped with black tassels.
