Sharyar opened the door and came upon his wife frolicking with his younger brother. Enraged, he curesed them to eternal hell, and executed the both of them. Unable to satisfy his lust due to a solemn oath never to marry again, he grabbed every virgin in his domain, marry them, and ravaged them, breaking their minds to a vegetative state.
The Vizier of Sharyar had a daughter, known as Scheherazade or Scharazad, and being the only remaining virgin in the land, she devised a plan to prevent her mind from being broken. After marrying the king, she invited her sister to come into the room and ask her a story, before the usual marriage rituals. Sharyar, interested, let her do so.
The Sister, in on her plan, asked her for a story. The king, interested, let her oblidge, and so Sharazad began with this tale...
(These Stories are meant to be fantastical and well written. Nights do not have to consist of a single story, and they can be stretched out over the length of nights. However, anything goes in a world of Arabian magic and Genies. Note that the stories of Aladdin and Ali Baba are separate from the actual nights.)
