“Alright, I’ve got to get to the bus stop,” Tad said as he finished up his breakfast. He put his now empty bowl and spoon in the sink before approaching his mother and giving her a kiss.
“Love you, mom,” he said before making his way towards the front door. “Good luck with your job interview today!”
Thank you, honey!” Jen replied. “I love you too!”
As Tad opened the front door and stepped outside, he found Amy waiting for him at the edge of the front yard.
“Morning Amy,” Tad called as he approached her. Amy smiled and hugged Tad when the two of them were close enough. “Morning Tad,” she said, releasing Tad from the hug. “How’d you sleep last night?”
“Pretty good actually,” Tad said as the two of them began walking down the sidewalk in the direction of the bus stop. “Not too much happened after you left though, so the rest of my night was pretty tame.”
“Well maybe that’s a good thing,” Amy suggested. “After all, I wouldn’t want our little walk through the woods tonight to be boring.”
“Time alone with you is never boring,” Tad said, wrapping his left arm around Amy’s shoulders as they walked. “It never has been, and it most certainly never will be.”
As the two young Werewolves rounded a corner, they could see that Connor, Ryan, and Ava had beaten them to the bus stop. Ava was sitting down on the bus stop bench, looking at her phone, while Connor and Ryan were both standing up and engaged in a conversation. Connor eventually noticed Tad and Amy approaching them and gave them a wave. Tad returned the wave and stopped walking when he and Amy were close enough.
“Morning guys,” Tad said casually. “How are you both doing today?”
“Great, actually,” Connor said, a large smile on his face. “Ryan and I...we’re going on a date tonight…”
A huge smile appeared on Tad’s face as he pulled his best friend into a quick, friendly hug, patting him on the back. “That’s great to hear man!” Tad said happily. “I’m so glad to see you finally coming out of your shell!”
“So does that mean you’ve decided that you want to be a Werewildcat?” Amy asked curiously. Although she hadn’t known Connor for very long, she had known about his struggles regarding his sexuality and trying to determine which Were species to become a member of. But from the sound of it, Amy assumed that Connor had finally made his decision.
Upon hearing Amy’s question, Connor immediately began to blush. “Yeah...it does,” he responded, looking up at Ryan. “I realized that if I’m truly attracted to Ryan, I should stop worrying so much about becoming Bi or Gay and do what my heart is telling me.”
Tad gave a slight chuckle. “Not gonna lie, but that was a little cheesy,” he said. “Adorable, but still kind of cheesy.”
“Well I don’t care if it’s cheesy or not,” Ryan said, wrapping his arm around Connor. “I’m attracted to Connor either way. And if things go well tonight, chances are Connor will be a Were the next time you see him.”
Tad laughed and playfully punched Connor in the shoulder. “Look at you! You’re going to get to third base in no time!”
Amy gave the two males a soft smile. “I’m so glad that you two decided to get together,” she said. “You’re so adorable together, and you’re both going to make each other so happy!”
“Thanks, Amy,” Ryan said with a smile. “After being in a relationship that didn’t work out, I know what not to do, so I plan on making Connor the happiest man alive for years to come.” This caused Connor to turn even redder than he already was. Just then, the sound of the school bus approaching could be heard. When it pulled to a stop in front of the bus stop, the group of friends all piled on board, each of them eager for the school day to end so they could get to the big events that night.
